Anyone know of any trawls coming up
Just received a letter today explaining how my recent demister application didn't make it through to a specialist interview.
Gutted is not the word.
I've got gcses and a levels and have completed 7 years in the Regiment,
Just really need a career change
Any advice

Don't be disheartened or feel you aren't good enough.

Remustering isn't as easy as people think.

Your current value as a Regt with 7 years experience will be quite high in a trade that is not facing redundancies.

If, for instance you were considering Avionics where AMM recruiting has been reduced, SACs and below are not being re-engaged and NCOs are being made redundant there would be no value in remustering you at the moment. Wait a few months after Tranche 2 and things could be totally different.

If you want a better chance of a career move, you might have to consider moving to a trade that is undermanned or difficult to recruit.

Another option might be to consider vounteering for an 'any trade' post (eg CCF/ATC Liason, Recruiting. Motivational Outreach etc) - a great chance to learn new skills. Alternatively, a specialist post within your own trade (instructing, CBRN testing, weapons trials etc) could give you the challenge you need.

You could also consider a career with the Army or RN if that floats your tank/boat.

All the best - I wish you luck.

Have you thought about applying for a Commission within your current branch? That would be a challenge and a half but with the convienience of not straying too far from ground you already know. Alternatively, NCA courses have started again.

'A' Sqn are currently running a course of NCA which started at the begining of this OACTU year. It might be made up of those who were blocked from starting last year.

Are the Army still crying out for Combat Med Techs? Not sure how easy it is to transfer across though ...

Was reading a DIN last week where the Army were looking for people to join the Int Corps.Have to be JNCO and below if I remember rightly and must pass the MLAT before they will even push through with your application . If you were successful there was a decent bonus payment with a quick promotion rate. Looked like a decent option for someone who was fairly swithced on and bored senseless with their job. Chances are you would reach Sgt in next to no time.
