Hi,

Does anyone have any idea as to when applications for Training Officer will open again?

BTW - what trades are now open?

Thanks

What does 'all trades currently closed' mean in practice? Does that mean that courses at Halton and Cranwell are cut? Does it mean no-one is retiring or leaving so no-one needs to be replaced? Or does it mean there are too many applicants on file? I just wonder...

I am told that the priority areas are still open and that PTI has opened up only recently so there must still be recruitment?

Trainer, potentially around August time. If you've already registered with the CIL, keep an eye on your emails as the info ones should also give you a rough heads up as to when it may be opening.

To be honest, it's a little of all 3. Into Training Targets (ITT's) have been slashed over the last 18 months-2 years or so due to the recession - basically, nobody is leaving, therefore the number of people required to meet the ITT has dropped and the ITT is then slashed, meaning fewer courses through Cranwell, Halton and Honington. On the other hand, due to the recession, there has been a massive amount of interest in careers in the forces, especially the RAF. This means that all trade choices are over-subscribed. When you submit your interest via the CIL, your name is kept on a file. When your chosen trade opens, you are emailed a link to the application process. Only those who get their applications returned soonest are filtered through to the next stages - think fastest finger first. This means there are a LOT of very disappointed people who aren't filtered through, but they remain on the list for the next batch of vacancies. The trick is to get yours in as soon as you receive the notification that the trade is open.
