Training Officer

Hi All,

Aplogies if I've posted in the wrong area, but the 'Jobs' section appeared to be more suited for civilian job queries.

I am looking to join the RAF within the Training Officer or Personnel Support Office branches. I was wondering if anyone had inside advice on whether there is active recruitment within either of the branches.

I have spoken to the people on the careers 'hotline' and they suggested that Training Officer and Pers Sp Officer are both going to be opened up for recruitment next month, but they said I should only register my interest in one branch, so want to give myself the best possible chance to make it through interviews/OASC (if I get there).

Further, I notice from the RAF Careers website that the qualifications are a little vague. I currently have 180 credits from the OU and will complete my 2nd year in mid 2012. Are they likely to accept me in the Training Officer branch with this, or will I need a full degree?

Any advice welcome!

Kind regards,

Hi there.

Both Support and Training are currently specialisations within the Personnel Branch along with Physical Education Officers. All three specialisations are due to merge later this year so we will just have Personnel Officers.

I would suggest that you pop into your nearest AFCO to find out what the entry criteria for the combined Branch would be.

Good luck.

mate, get a real job.

Seriously, "the system" looks after itself. If you complain then you have a good chance that you'll be in front of your boss having to explain as to why you dare complain about a superior rank, regardless of ability, his /hers or yours.

Don't get me wrong, I've been in for over 12 years and have had a great time mostly but recently It has been perceived that I may have been persecuted for reasons that would make a great thread but I my boss is a member and knows who I am and I will end up in his office rather sharpish if I ever insinuate that all is nothing less than fantastic. Everything is just great by the way.

Seriously, use your intelligence and qualifications to get a job where you're you're respected.
