I have been tasked with organising a day of FD, and the tasking is a 'Trenchard Walk' around London.

I've heard it mentioned before, but never actually seen or participated in one.

A google search only turned up various adresses around the country, so thats a bit of a non starter...

Any helpful pointers would be appreciated, otherwise I'll just plan a pub crawl around various dingy boozers around the capital...

Theres an Air Historic Branch link on the intranet may help or try the LEAP (or whatever its called) centre at Crantanamo may have an idea.

Failing that i agree with chip, option 2.

It goes against the grain helping a plumber but have you tried his entry in Wikipedia. Loads of clues in there ! And as a bonus, if you map it out you can combine with a pub crawl.

Last year I organised a similar FD experience for my team at work and did the Battle of Britain walk, if that's the same thing? It starts at St Clement's, a walk down to Temple tube station and you basically follow the river where there are several BoB items of interest. It culminates at Westminster Abbey. If it is the same thing, it doesn't take too long and goes right past the floating bars and restaurants on the river. We extended the day by organising a tour of Parliament too which, to be fair for a history buff like me, is pretty good.

Stick the details on here if you would please mate, will help others in the future :-)

Link for the Battle of Britain Memorial Walk - http://www.raf.mod.uk/events/bobheritagewalk.cfm. There is a map on there with details of the significance of each site. It starts at Temple tube station and follows the river up to Westminster Abbey and Parliament Square. There are numerous floating bars and restaurants along the route to extend the tour somewhat. It takes around 45 minutes.

St Clement Danes - http://www.raf.mod.uk/stclementdanes/. If you've never been in, a tour is highly worthwhile and it's free. Contact the church clerk for details and to arrange a tour. It takes around an hour and they can lay on tea and coffee for you for a nominal fee. It's a good way to start the BoB walk as it's only 150 yds or so from Temple.

Parliament - Entry to the Houses is free. All you need to do is contact your local MP and request a tour through him/her. It takes around 90 minutes or so and goes into both houses. We had to chop and change our tour as Obama visited that week so we were pushed back a couple of days but it wasn't that much of an issue of us.

What about the monopoly board. You have to have a drink in every place mentioned on the monopoly board.

Been there, done that, got the vomit stains on my shoes. It is good fun though, apart from Whitechapel with it's rather diverse population and their different views on pub crawls from the rest of the country :PDT_Xtremez_42:
