I hope so too. With the right publicity and marketing, this project could be a real success.

What a fantastic idea, I reckon a shedload of top bands would be up for it. Whats needed is some high profile person to help publisize it. Richard Branson would do a good job as he offers discounts for the Forces so he obviously supports us. He would also get sh1t loads of publicity out of it so everybody is happy.

Have just found out that an old mate of mine will be playing this as a support band. Lets hope he can get some back stage passes.:PDT_Xtremez_15:

Hi guys ...

The organisers are in talks with some major players in the live music world and everything so far is looking positive ... but ... in order to gain the 'big' sponsorships that will raise the requied cash for H4H, RAFA, SSAFA, bereaved familes etc, we need to get the word out therer that the gig is being planned.

Hopefully e-goaters can spread the message to friends and family.

Join the facebook page, and most importantly ... please also join up on the event website ... there's nearly 13000 on the facebook page ... but under 300 on the event website - and that's the one that will attract the big sponsors and make it a definate go.

It's predominantly an Army organised event so far (with a joint forces focus) but let's not let them take all the credit !

We want to show you guys how proud we are of you all (apart from RAFP and Jafads obviously! lol) and say thanks and show that we support you all.

This is our way. Please get the message out there.

Oh and I'm working on the backstage pass thing ! lol

Cheers, Ade

ps Note that I didn't mention http://www.myspace.com/alterzero once ! Doh !

This is IMO a great idea but it does make you think...When such events as Live Aid went ahead it was to help starving civilians in far away countries...These people had nothing to do with us and we were their only hope as such...

Troopaid is for the benefit of people who are or recently have been in government employ and pay...Very possibly injured in the service of the government and country...

So why the f*ck should anybody be going to this much effort (and it is appreciated) to look after people that should be getting looked after by the state and not being a charity case...We are not Africa and although financially things are a bit ropey we are not in a state anywhere near Africa or even Eastern Europe and yet we still need to hold a concert to make sure our injured troops get treated decently...

It beggers belief...

P.S You might want to talk to the IGS police about getting your website IGS 'friendly'...

Because the left wing loons in charge have wasted billions in so called aid to developing Nations, aid which has gone straight in to the pocket of corrupt leaders.

Couldn't agree more Vim ...

However ... it seems ( and this makes my blood boil ) not to be "politically correct" to show outright support for the guys.

So this is our way of telling the PC Brigade where to shove it, and show you lot we do care and appreciate all you do. And any dosh raised goes to a worthwhile cause, and not some smack-head / chav rehab centre or something equally anal!

My involvement with this isn't as an organiser ... I'm only the drummer in a band playing as a supprt act.

But as I'm ex-RAF ... I believe in the sentiment strongly.

ps Please excuse my ignorance ... what's IGS friendly?

It means the website can be seen on service computers. It currently can't, but hopefully it will be soon.

So I take it it's due to a security thing then.

How does the webmaster go about making it IGS friendly?

Does he need to apply to some MOD bureaucrat or just tweak something?

EDITED : Oops ... just properly read Mad-Collie's response and that he's sent a request. Thankyou guys!

MC just isn't a pretty face you know. In fact he's not even that, he's a sort of short Jimmy Sommerville lookalike.....

Infact, here's a pic of him on Gay pride and the smaller pic is Jimmy Sommerville.

Had the response from the fun police:

boring_fun_police said:
The MOD defines Acceptable Use within JSP740 as "the use of MOD IT and Telecoms in support of official core business, or any other permitted activity highlighted by this AUP". Dating and relationship websites do not come under the category of 'official core business', therefore, DGInfo has issued policy that these websites be blocked.

If you have a legitimate reason to access these websites, you are required to forward a Business Case in writing to the DFN Gateways Team (POC Mr Guy Parry - DCSA DFN-TLM Gateways 1)

I think the problem may be that it is a chat type website, which is why it is blocked on IGS.

Cheers for that MC ...

Good to see that things don't change re the 'fun police' ! stfu

Must admit though ... thought the idea of making the TLA website a 'chat type thing' was bizarre ... but what do I know.

Thanks for trying anyway matey.

Did any of the organisers contact you by the way?
