And we're back...

Apologies for the rather extended outage...it's sorted now and the LFE we gained from it will benefit the tech team and ensure it shouldn't happen again to such an extent.

Whilst I'm here I'd like to announce that we have secured the funding for another year of Goating. It had become the norm for us to make a push around Autumn for funds to get us over the line and this year we can buck that trend.

That said I still want all of you that enjoy the Goat to consider three things

1. Please subscribe to the site. It's can be for as little as a fiver a year and it helps us not only meet the server fees but to pay for patches and upgrades that protect us from nasty people.

2. Consider a donation. It can be as little as a quid and if you find yourself feeling a little flush bung some our way for he same reasons as in (1)

3. Tell your friends about the Goat. We have a great membership but we want it to keep growing. Share links to threads you like on Facebook and generally spread the word.

When we get next years server fees in the bank x 2 I want the site to get back into its charitable ways...we are non-profit and here for all serving, veterans and supportive civvies in good times and bad and should when able try to give something back as a collective.

To elaborate a little, the server had an unexpected high loading even though we are not running any scripts which could cause this.

in the past, when the server tripped offline, the hosts were normally able to reboot and resume normal service. However, the host company have introduced a new security system which required information that we did not have when the server was offline yesterday.

Moves have been made to address this so we do not find ourselves with extensive downtime in the future.
