This is a stupid question as we have moved several times over the past few years but neither of us can remember how to organise the movers! We haven't put in for disturbance yet as our moving date - 29th September is still not confirmed. It will be either this date or up to two weeks after, we should find out later today. Do we need a moving date before putting disturbance claim in? Or what about an actual address? I don't expect to get notification of an address yet as our application is sitting in the car awaiting WO signature.

As of my last move 18 mths ago I had to get a contact no from PSF or whatever they are called these days and they put me in contact with an MOD recognised removal firm, you don't do the old best quote system any more.
It's all done through pre approved firms.

you can put a projected move date in if that helps

Leaving it a bit late aren't you? The MOD has a contract through M&S Shipping who will appoint a Removals Company for you who should come round and assess your furniture capacity and then move you. Simple process really but you need to get your arses down to PSF and start filling in some paperwork or you won't be moving when you think you are. Hubby can clain his DA from tomorrow provided that your posting date is 29 Sep.

You dont need an address to get the DA plus, have you been in contact with the DHE with regards application for FMQ cause if you havent done this already you wont have a home to send the movers to.

The movers will send an assessor round to look at your house as soon as you start the process, but you will need to contact them to arrange date and times (all available on the paperwork from PSF) they will see how much stuff you have and if it comes within the limits. You should know wich unit you are posted to and this will be enough info for them, specific addresses can be given when you have been allocated a quarter you can not book the actual removal date till you have a new address.

Top Tip if possible try and book your march in a day or so before your removers come as if there is anything majorly wrong with your new gaff you wont have the movers sat on the door step.

Be aware there is a big delay at some stations at getting a FMQ as MHS have 20 odd days from the date of allocation to do any outstanding works services so even if you were allocated a house today then it may not be ready until the 23rd. On top of this the Local DHE rep has to then fit in the march in to their schedule.

I know all this as I moved in just over 5 weeks, and that was only possible with a lot of phoning, faxing, emailing, etc and all the paperwork being signed etc.

Remember to sort out schooling if you have kids as well:PDT_Xtremez_17:

Thanks for your answers, applied for SFA yesterday (we only got our posting yesterday) and now my posting date is 19th September!!!!! The joys of having your station go serco and drafters leaving you 'til last!!

Got movers form from PSF clerk today and handing it in later this afternoon.

Thanks for your help!

Tell me to poke off if you like, but how come its such short notice?

Haha long story cut short. Current posting is RAF Syerston (gliders). Going serco on Dec 1st so everybody is posted. They decided to leave us and 2 others 'til this week to tell us where the bloody hell we are going. First date was November 10th. Unfortunately wife will be 34-35 weeks pregnant then and she's at risk for pre-term labour (last two were premmies). So we have to move earlier than this so she can still play some sort of part in the move ie. still be able to walk! BUT the nobs decided to send me on multi skilling on 29th September 'til mid October. They are canx courses for next year as there are not enough people to fill spaces.
I can move early and go on this course or...canx the course and risk not getting another next year, meaning I cannot sign on past 9.

Also one more point - baby son is really ill and needs regular hospital treatment and is having surgery in Nottingham in a few weeks so that complicates things too! They will transfer him when he is stable enough to hosp near Brize so we need to be set up ready for him.

Why are our lives so god damn difficult?????

So that's basically how we got 18 days to move.

Given this is there no way you could leave the family at Syerston till after the new arrival and your baby son is well on the way to recovery?

I wasn't aware you had actually received an Assignment Order. When you do, pop in and see me and I'll personally make sure you receive the necessary assistance.

My office is in the far corner of the PSF.

No haven't received anything official yet, just being a little presumptious. Suppose we gotta be if we are to move so quickly! Cheers.

Another one off of my dream sheet list then.::/:

Suprised you havent managed Cottesmore or Wittering, they aren't that far down the road from Syerston.
Waddo is only around the corner as well.
It would make more sense to maybe be posted somewhere within daily commuting distance of where you are now.

Have you tried ringing your drafter and speaking to them yourself?

Also have you spoken to the multi skiller people at Cosford and explained your circumstances. They may well be able to offer you whatever courses they have available next year.
Its worth a go if it means you have an extra 3 weeks leeway.

Good luck with it all, whatever happens.

I wish that would work but baby is not going to be fixed any time soon. He has an ongoing problem and needs regular hospital admissions. It may be a year or more.
