Victor gets makeover

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
The work on the Handley Page Victor XL231, which is on display at the Yorkshire Air Museum in Elvington, has been completed half a century on from the maiden flight by a Victor on December 24, 1952.

Isnt that 60 years?

John

Shame they can't give some of our gate guardians a make over? When I was at Marham one or two years ago, the Victor there looked a disgraceful mess. It had so much moss growing on it the Victor had a green tinge.

its lucky to still be there, when i was there a few years back then harry staish mcalpine (a proper bell end) wanted to cut it up and scrap the thing.

its been cleaned a few times but needs a good going over.

apparently it was donated to the station by some old guy years ago and so has to stay put as he has long since passed away. (someone will be along soon to correct me im sure)

The trouble with the Marham Victor is that it's on the verge of collapse. I'm surprised its still there.

Aah yes, this was the man who spent a large chunk of the stn budget putting a Tornado on a pole as a new gate guardien. And yes agree with the comment, he had a proper bee in his bonnet about speeding. We didn't laugh much when the local rozzers he had invited to conduct speed checks on the approaches to camp, lifted his wife for speeding. Tool!

2 Harry Staish's at Cottesmore made the guys on janckers clean the old GR3 gate guard that was there...until it moved down to Swanwick Mil.
