Does anyone know if you can flash your RAF ID to gain "complementary" lounge access to all that free relaxation at airports? Few of us due to fly out civvy shortly and had heard that it may have been possible few years back. I had it at Malta after an ac recovery but I think that was due to expensive ticket!
Any gen???

Used the Flybe lounge at Gatwick last Saturday even though I wasn’t entitled to, explained that we had just returned from the Gulf and the lady gave me the combination to the door and then take our chances when in there. Got in and the lounge was empty and to be honest, one of the worst lounges I’ve been in, a few beers, some crisps and shortbread, didn’t stay in there too long. Last year flew to Kuwait with BA, got the use of the BA lounge at Aberdeen as it was part of our ticket, when at Heathrow tried to blag our way into the lounge, no joy, even after flashing our ID. Then a few months later, again flying out of Aberdeen, tried again to use the lounge and we were refused entry.
So generally, I would say no, but it depends on the size of your group and the mood of the person you are chatting to.

there's about 10 of us, flying Virgin from Gatwick. Worth a try, they can only say no and won't be any worse off!

ID cards dont really work anymore for that but you can pay (I think its around £15) to use the lounge or give them a ring before you leave and ask them what the score is. Mr Branson claims to be on the side of the military so you may be lucky. Only thing against is the large number of you 1 or 2 they you may get away with it 10 may be pushing it!

Managed to get into the BA Lounge at Heathrow, by flashing a Nato Travel Order and ID card and pretending that I belonged there as I walked to the entrance. That and wearing a suit helped as well.

Worst that they can say is no and a lot of it depends on who is already in there.

Was told the story of some bloke (another traveler) spouting off at a supplier who was transiting up north on R&R from the stan (the old quick jeans and t-shirt change at BZN) and demanded to be showing proof that he prove that he should be in there.

Fair dues the attendant checked and okay ed and then got old spouty to prove that he was also entitled to be in there.

As Tashy man would say......Crack on....

Is it a Service booked trip? If so, check your ticket, just might say business on it, BA's normally do in my experience.

Do me a favour mate!!! Its Economy cattle class, cheapest available. I did sort out my air miles and changed my seat on-line to be next to the galley tho!!!:PDT_Xtremez_30:

I'll give them a bell, nothing ventured etc etc

BB you've no hope. The best your wardrobe goes to is a Kappa tracksuit and a burberry cap. Apparently Sov rings aren't in vogue in the business lounge either. :PDT_Xtremez_15:
It's all to do with the door keeper. Think nightclub entry ruses, and you might get lucky. If you're transiting Heathrow to Aberdeen then they only do a business ticket so then you're in.
To be honest you'd only feel out of place anyway, and the other customers would complain.. Your lads might get away with it though.

PS Enjoy your trip
