Anyone got any idea why a laptop with Vista installed shows 4 tiles with identical desktops on the display? Thanks :PDT_Xtremez_41:

That ACER Laptop looks like a utility to automatically adjust your window sizes as you open applications.
Otherwise are you refering to Virtual Desktops?
It's a feature that been around for ages with Linux and Mac's.
Basically it's just a way of neatening up your workspace, have a separate desktop for whatever work you happen to be doing. (Browsing on one desktop, ripping and burning on another, downloading on another etc etc)
XP had it, if you downloaded it as a Powertoy, but it just drained even more resources and was a waste of time (Buggy, bloated and prone to falling over surprise surprise).
The Linux and Mac versions work very nicely and are integrated into the Operating system, not sure how this Microsoft version matches up.

No idea if it's an ACER laptop as it is a mate who has the problem. He basically wants to turn it off so he only has one desktop? Any ideas? Thanks

Been using the linux virtual desktops since 1999, though the nVidia multidesktop works well for windows.

Well can't help any further with that limited info, ask your friend what make/model his laptop is that will help.
