Make of this what you will.....

Personally I'd be p1ssed off if I ended up flying on a basic model like this on holiday. I want decent IFE....:PDT_Xtremez_14:

Nice rebuttal of the article here. Maybe too early to tell, but I'd say Voyager has been a resounding success. Procurement of a service that seems to work well and is fit for the stated military need. Not often that can be said!

Favourite part in the rebuttal:

Why The OUTRAGE?
The outrage in the Mail article seems to focus on several key points:

a. Its disgraceful that the MOD has bought planes it isn’t flying
b. £10.5bn is a lot of money, think how much we could have bought with this.
c. We don’t know how much service its seen
d. Probably something about immigrants taking jobs from cancer causing paedophiles…

Love this quote

My 2 euro's worth:

The Mail says "It is understood they have never been used on operations" but then states "In April this year, a Voyager refuelled Tornados in the international mission to destroy alleged chemical weapons facilities in Syria." Which is it then?

I know from experience that it is incredible hard for aircrew to get a tanker, due to availability so how come there are 3 spare? I can only assume we've got more aircraft than resources to fly them which is one of the points they're making I suppose.

Another point is the photos that "prove" it was an Air Tanker jet. Didn't the ROYAL AIR FORCE writing on the side give the game away as well?

I hear the wet leasing of the aircraft on the civil register is very lucrative...

I read this about 20 years ago.

PFI contracts were originally set up in 1992 by John Major to remove financial risk from the treasury. Seems that Gordon Brown changed all that...
