Can anyone help me out please

I'm posted to Cyprus along with my family .. As you can guess we've got tons of stuff to take on the flight .. And quite a decent weight allowance ... But there's a possibility we are going to be over it due to presents and clothes family have bought for the kids.
Can anyone let me know how anal and sticklers the check in guys are at brize with regards your weight allowance... Last time I flew from there was 3 years ago and it was basically just chuck everything you brought onto the belts and it went though no problems .. But in these days of cut backs and penny pinching I'm just concerned they may have started billing if you go above your allowance

If anyone can give me some decent gen I'd very much appreciate it

If you know the movers you can do what you want I think, however it is more likely to depend on how full the flight is as I think they keep passenger numbers below the A/C max to allow for the higher allowance per passenger. As long as it's not massively over I haven't heard of any problems.

You know the weight limit so stick to it. To do anything else is just setting yourself up for a fall and causing grief to others.
You are more likely to be asked to leave items behind than be billed.

Cheers Max I hadn't heard anything either but just wondered .... Kingpin ... Must be an officer stating pointless facts like that ... Yes I know the allowance I was asking what happens IF I was to go over ... The family have given the kids lots of going away presents and it's too late to leave things behind ... But cheers for your input :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Wasn't aiming at being an arse mate, just giving the facts as I see em. To be fair Max is spot on. It seems to be who you know. Probably wise to give Brize a bell and ask. Have a sob story handy. Every little helps. Good luck and enjoy Cyprus. You can't go wrong.

It should be on your paperwork which has advised you of your flight details, if not have a look in the JSP 800 that will tell you what you can carry

He knows what the allowance is mate, he is asking if there is any way to get a bit more.

I have my allowance from my paperwork ... Just wondered if anyone has had any experience of going a little over ... Do they just let it slide it do they get arsey about it that's all I was asking

Depends who you know I think - was "slightly" over when I went a few years back but luckily the Mover who checked me in was one of the guys I knew at Lyneham.

Got decent seats to the Falklands a year or so later for same reason!

And as for shipping PE over on Hercs with GE mates - well, that's another story!

When we where posted over here if you were over then they would class it as freight and put it on the next available flight if it would fit on your flight
