I ask this question because all i have been issued is the usual 3 sets of clothing plus UBACS and CBA, 2 pairs of boots and a mozzie net for a cot bed, camelback, goggles and glasses and the insulated mug/flask.
I have also had to by my own pistol holster!!

Am i ment to get field dressings S10 canisters a karabiner etc, too.

Not even been issued a bergan got told to make do with my blue RAF bag, not very tactical.

I ask because i will be flying around on hercs and pave hawks do i need anything inparticular or will that be enough I dont seam to have as much as i usually get issued.

Cheers
Landy

If you've already got some of the kit, they will only give you the stuff thats recently come onto the kit list. As for a Bergan.... You should have been issued a 'det bag' thing, that looks a bit like one. Use that, or find a friendly storeman who will get you one gratis. Failing that, try ebay and look for a 100 litre bergen and buy one.

Ebay clicky clicky

I've had my own bergen for the last 15 years, best investment I ever made.

You sign out field dressing, torni, morphine along with ammo in theatre. Not sure why you had to buy holster as it should come with weapon. Bergan is a scaled item so go back and ask for one. If you are flying in a Herc regular basis canisters a must.

Holsters are issues from stores, not the Armoury.

I have just been given the Herrick/Telic Clothing Scale. Top of the list is the Operational Travel Bag. Ok, not quite a bergan but make sure you get one from your friendly Clothing Stores, as you are entitled after all. I'm pretty sure I can get a hold of an electronic copy of the scale which I can PM to you if you want?

And you will be offered to keep it afterwards.. I went "No Thanks.."

Err Landy what hercs are operating out of BSN, I presume you mean other sandy place and you will only be visiting.

They are an Inv Item and should be held by Stn Arm docbombhead, like the slings bayonets etc etc.

They might be an inventory item mate but not an Armoury one ! All the Armourys I've worked in over the years we've never held any holsters. And any one requesting a holster has always been directed to stores.

Bit of a Mexican stand off, not scaled under clothing regs as a personal issue so therefore an Inv Item for Global visabilty. Logical Inv would be Stn Arm in my experiance. However, always a reluctance to get Techies to sign for things on Invs.

Perhaps thats why landie went and bought one!!!!!!!

Like you say mate getting the SNEC in charge of the Small Arms Bay to sign for x amount of holsters would be a nightmare. Don't know why Armourys have never held them as you say logicaly it would make sense.
And to be honest the only time I did ever see a holster in an Armoury was the few that were handed into Lyneham when I was there many moons ago and they were like the one below so I can see why Landie bought his own:PDT_Xtremez_32:

During my time there last year all personnel (except for the important ones with a CP team) were required to fly with L85, pistol would only be carried as a secondary weapon. If your post requires you to be cutting around the bondu then you are entitled to a bergan, patrol pack etc just like the Regiment are. All you need to do is prove this to your clothing store, a call to your desk might be in order.

The kitting has always been a bit of an issue for our tours, we do a specialist part of our trade but still only get the standard issue kit, not too much of a problem now we don't go to Iraq; letters have been sent to PJHQ with no reply back.

I got a pistol holster from clothing stores after providing them with a NSN but to be honest the one i bought is far better and the correct colour.

I blagged a 30ltr patrol sack which is going to be better than a bergan as it can be packed as an over night grab bag also got an extra ops bag. I been email the guy i replace and anything i am short of can be be picked up in theatre or he will leave it behind for me.
