Hi,

Can you please help (mainly aimed at the admin branch)

At present living in quarters in East Anglia but other half is moving up north and i will be moving into the block. Just wondering if i am entitled to the get you home allowance and do i pay for the block if living apart from each other??????????.
Thanks in advance spicy

Kind of similar situation, other half lives in our own home, I'm in mess during week don't pay for accommodation or council tax just pay for food (leave pass in for weekends so get cost back). You get gyh(t) if live more than 50 miles away to cover cost of going home at weekends. Sure admin bod will be on soon to correct me or give more details soon.

By 'other half' I assume you're married. You say your other half is moving up north. You will only receive GYH if you move up there with her and commute to work. If she is living up there with relatives or lodging as a house guest I don't think you can claim. The cash is paid for you to travel to your home, not to visit your wife, therfore you must have a financial stake in the property.

, therfore you must have a financial stake in the property.
Or paying into the rent. You will need to prove yearly that you live there with your council Tax bill and another bill in your name. It doesn't matter if you are married or not as long as your name is on the A/M PW.

To claim GYH, you must be able to provide:

Council Tax Bill in your name (mandatory), plus two of the following:

Mortgage or Land Registry or Ground Documents
Tenancy Agreement, including full details of the property.
Utility bill dated within 4 months (not a mobile phone)
Building/Contents Insurance certificate for the current year.
Direct Debit Evidence of bill payment (within the last 4 months)
Evidence of inclusion of the Electoral Roll.

Its all contained within JSP 752 Chapter 5 Section 2
