My wife and I have two cars, one each, but we both must be able to use each others.

I have my car insured with her as a named driver and vice versa, however we are getting a new car shortly and getting rid of her old car. I have 3 years NCB and she has 1 year NCB.

She will be the main user of the new car, for work and back ect.

I think it will be cheaper to insure in my name and her as named, but I'm concerned how that would play out with her being the main driver.

Any advice?

It will be a bit cheaper short term but don't forget, not only will she not be earning her own NCB, if the car gets stacked and the insurance company can show she was the main driver, they will deny the policy.

Most insurers these days will mirror NCB on to another car.

My advice would be to insure both cars in both your names. Some policies actually work out cheaper by having a spouse on it, even though they have less experience.

Is that not the same as named drivers?

not quite,

with Churchill adding me to Gert's insurance as spouse reduced policy by £35 but adding my son a 30 y/o with 7 years no claims would 've increased it by £20 as named driver.
