Would it be possible in this JPA day and age to terminate and give for example 40 months notice. If it is would I then be able to apply for a last tour of duty?

Failing that it wasn't possible another suggestion that I was given was that I can "terminate" and it can sit in my line managers in tray for 30 days. If I get the posting brilliant delete, if I dont press send. Who else apart from my line manager can see my application to terminate, ie would my drafter.

Many thanks.

Mate, we've been through this onthe other thread; either wait for your Overseas posting to be decided or have the balls to put your PVR (sorry Termination) in. For what it's worth I think 18 months is the maximum notice you can give and you're unlikely to get a LTOD away from where you are now once it's been submitted.

Lamin, gotta agree with HS, if you don't like it then put your papers in. If its a last tour (or any tour for that matter) that you want, speak to your desk and/or Chief Clerk. I have a downer on the oxygen thieves that play the "If I don't get what I want I'm going out" card, no offence!

Stax and Humble Scribe.

Thanks for your replies, I wish I could print more and then you would know more about my case and probably agree. Its not a case of not having the balls or going off in a sulk if I dont get what I want. I am not a kid and have passed my 22 point, my wife has been in and out of hospital at one point I was quite ill on retuning from Ops, things in my personal life have changed.

I realise it is time to go sadly, and I accept that, I also know that my trade now is pure broke. I have however a chance of one last dream posting that would make me leave with a smile and in an estatic move. I have bounced from one hardship tour to another without wanting to sound like a "cock" realise I have given far more to the RAF than many of my colleagues, I seem to be surrounded by det dodging malingers whom I am ashamed to be associated with. Again I wish I could reveal more.

By seniority and process of elimination I and my trade thought I was in pole position so to speak. I have since discovered that instruction are now only a guide and JPA interpretation does not favour loyalty.

Surely nobody should be slated for doing a firm view of all the options before deciding what to do?

Lamin, not having a go just that your post comes across as wanting to have the cake & eat it too! I appreciate that there are things that you want to keep to yourself & that's how it should be but you've been in long enough to realise that you have to show some patience when dealing with personnel matters (especially ACOS maning); unfortunately it's just how it is. If you are the top man with most seniority then there should be some good resaons why you they won't select you. Try being a little positive and hopefully you'll get the posting you desire - anywhere nice?
