I finally got out in 85 when I thought the the RAF no longer was going in the right direction.I managed to do 27 years but the influx of very young engineering officers who had done the course of indoctrination and thought that they knew better than the seasoned SNCOs was just too much. Dont get me wrong I loved nearly every minute of working with aircraft and getting paid for it but there comes a time anyway my question is to all you still serving "whats it like now?"

****!!!! Those Eng Officers are now at air rank level and still as spineless as ever. Retired earlier this year and so glad to be out!!!!!

If you thought it was bad in 85, it's worse now, a lot of the decision making is appalling and the way some SNCOs are treated is unbelievable. I'm glad I'm out of it, just miss the banter.
