Hello you lot. just started this e goat thingy so ill start with a question.
Looking on the official R.A.F. web site yesterday under vacancies and there didnt seem to be any painter and finishers any more. Has that trade been binned or what? I would be gratefull for any info. Thanks Dinger.:PDT_Xtremez_41:

Another trade consigned to the history books I'm afraid. Now we all have to re-learn how to polish our shoes!:PDT_Xtremez_35:

Unfortunately, the Ptr & Fnr trade has been disbanded; or will be very soon.

They've not actually been disbanded, yet, they've been cut massively in numbers and the remaining ones will either serve out their contracts or remuster. There will be no more P&F training. Eventually they'll be faded out, according to the painters at the herc base anyway.

End of the painters

End of the painters

Thanks for the info folks. A sad day for the R A F. With the end of all these support role trades who will do the gate guard and put tents up on deployments. I dont mean that as an insult to support types but you know what i mean. If all the man power is on aircraft who does all the rest of the work?

Everyday is a sad day these days :PDT_Xtremez_09:

Even the Aircraft trades have no manpower but are still doing all the duties along with all the other trades.....it can't be long before something breaks bigtime.....

Crack on..............:PDT_Xtremez_09:

It will be interesting to see who will paint the fin caps ( 'cos some dozy tw@t came up with a 'unique' numbering system), I thought this had been done approximately 90 years ago by giving each aircraft a 'unique' number!::/:
