It was with great ammusement that I saw an e-mail from the new TG WO last week that informed me that FOA (ATC) are being re-named ATCA's.

Air Traffic Control Assistants............. why not go the whole hog and re-name them Assistant Air Traffic Controler - AATCs..... or would that just be re-inventing the wheel????

Anyone else got any thoughts on the subject?:PDT_Xtremez_09: :PDT_Xtremez_08: :PDT_Xtremez_34:
 
Didn't the civvies call their Assistants ATCA? I think that they now call them ATSA's, Air Traffic Control Service Assistants. There was an urban myth that the reason that they would always remain on the lowest pay band was because of the word Assistant in the job title. I suppose the real irony is that a majority of Assistants are not employed directly in Air Traffic Control but in Operations jobs.

Do you think the SNCO job title change again? I could think of a few appropriate acronyms but they might upset some of the more sensitive souls.
 
I have to be careful, the last time I really let rip there was snot and tears everywhere. I'm a great believer in fate but every now and then Karma needs a little helping hand. Not that I bare a grudge or anything.

I'm more than happy to refer to myself as an Air Traffic Dogsbody. Try to think up a good job title for the SNCO's that actually reflect their duties is a difficult one but how about SATCO's/SlOps Bitch.

I do believe it something to with not being able to used the job title more than once and also it was generated because good ol' JPA can or won't accept FOA and FOA(ATC) when the Army and Navy finally come on board!!!

It's almost as bad as FOTF going back to TTF!!!!! Now there's re-inventing the wheel!!!!

So lets get this straight......TTF name changed (probably at great expense) to FOTF and then back to TTF again (probably at great expense).

Anyone out there got any other great ideas.......

The way i understand it, the name change is to identify the diference between FOA's and FOA(ATC)'s. I'm confused does the ATC bit not show that. Well i suppose we cant have people who do exactly the same training, capable of doing exactly the same job, but work in diferent places having a similar title! Pilots and Aircraft Directional Adjusters? Feel free to continue.:PDT_Xtremez_35:

On the subject of name changing and wheel re-invention readers may be interested to note that as from today FOTF is changing its' name to ......... wait for it......TTF!

....and when the music stops we all sit down!!
 
Canm we bring back admin sgts at the same time please? I only ask because how can you have a FOM/PFOM when there are no FOAs to manage?
 
Not a bad idea Hmmmmmmmmmm, but with everyone getting a new name, maybe the FOM's / PFOMs out there should have one too. Infact lets go the whole hog and change controllers job titles as well. Change CATCS to..............................answers on a postacard to OCBTS, Shawbs.

If rumour out here in the 'Stan is correct, when I get back to the UK, I don't have a Harry Staish any more, I've got a Chief Facilities Executive - Boll0x management speak at its best!!!!

aww c'mon guys, do you not know that changing the name of something is the best way to get promoted. Ohhh, look sir, I've made the notepapaer properly reflect what we do here.
You just know that in however many months time when the next bloke comes along that it will all change all over again.
Then again, we have to have something to whine about otherwise or frown-ups would start to get worried.

WIWAS OC BTS changed his name to OC ATCTS. Funny how the world turns.....
 
I'm not a big fan of the term FOM. Bring back the OSM...:PDT_Xtremez_30:
