Getting very confused! When can you PVR? On my JPA it say earliest exit date Feb 2013.I joined Sep 2007 and finished my training Feb 2010( as in trade training).

What trade are you? do you have a return of service after training?

Feb 2013 is 11 months away, as some trades have a 12 month PVR waiting time, it may be that. I'm sure a scribbly will be along shortly though with the gen.

hey, im dental nurse. i have to do 3 years after trade training. so joined sep 2007, dental nurse training finished feb 2010, so 3 years from then would be feb 2013 which is the date jpa are saying. so thats right isnt it? i could put my pvr in now to leave feb 2013?

There is a 3 year return of Service on completion of Phase 2 training for all ground trades, which you will have signed at some point. This can be waived in exceptional circumstances however.

There is no legal 'right' to PVR; however, there is a right (Under the RAF Terms of Service Regulations) to give notice to transfer to the reserve. This right cannot be exercised until the 3 years after initial training.

RAF Terms of Service Regulations can be found here: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2007/650/contents/made

The relevent text is below:

A person who has reached the age of 16 years may be enlisted in the Royal Air Force for a term (which may include service in the reserve) of not less than 3 years’ nor more than 9 years’ air force service from the relevant date with the right to be transferred to the reserve on or at any time after the expiration of 3 years after the end of his period of training , such right being exercisable in accordance with regulation 10 and subject to regulation 12.

Off Topic

The waiver form signed for those attending a course that attracts a Training Retrun of Service has 2 functions for aimen: 1. they waive their right to give notice for the period of the Training return of Service; 2. they certify that they understand that they will not be permittd to PVR during their Training Return of Service. Officers, however, do not have a right to give notice so they acknowledge that they understand that they will not be permittd to PVR during their Training Return of Service.

Under normal circumstances, yes, no problem.

Not sure that your 3 years return of service will be fulfilled seeing as you had full maternity leave in the middle of that 3 years though. You are going to have to check that one with a specialist shiny.

Many thanks for all yout help.

OML and AML ( first 13 weeks only of AML) counts towards completion of a servicewomens engagement/commision and is reckonable service. So i meet the "requirement" that is asked when wanting to put my PVR in as ive completed my 3 years return after training in Feb 2013.

Thanks again guys for your advice :-)
