Got married last year. The wife lives with her mum but she has just given birth and cant stay at home anymore because theres just not enough room! So am i entitled t allowanceo claim disturbance even though its our first home togethers I appreciate any help guys. Thanks.

I moved from my wife's parents house into our first quarter under similar circumstances and claimed successfully for full disturbance allowance. It has to be noted that the move was on assignment - are you remaining in current post? Without access to the intranet I can't confirm your entitlement but it shouldn't take you long - either that or speak to your admin person.

not sure if the rules have changed but i'm pretty sure the first move is on you, probably not what you wanted to hear sorry but i think thats gen.

I moved into the mess last year on posting then got wedded now moving into my first quarter because the missus cant stay at home with her mum with a new baby so thought it might be compasionate reasons. I didnt claim for moving to this unit at all so far. I tell u what the wording of the jsp is rubbish! But thanks for the replies already!

JSP 752 Chapter 7 Section 1 is your source for entitlement of Disturbance Allowance mate. A quick read and to cut it short -

* DA is predominantly paid on posting to another unit.
* You can get DA for a mid assignment move - for example you have more children and are entitled to a larger married quarter - but you have to expect to live in said quarter for at least 6 months.
* It seems that if you are not posted and "setting up home" for the first time you are not entitled to DA.

Hope this helps - the JSP is on the intranet and the internet for your perusal - it will come down to your circumstances and where they fit in with the above.

Not as bad as your English, if you were working for a civi employer what would expect to get. The RAF haven't done anything to you since you got married yet you expect to get some kind of help with your own personal decisions.

What expences do you expect to have, rent a big van and drive down your stuff to your subsidised accom and chil.

Glass houses..or was that an attempt at irony?
