Hi... Does anyone know of any individuals who had a PVR in place but withdrew it on offer of promotion? I have some names but need more to prove one can still be offered promotion with a PVR served. Obviously info will be utilised via PM. The reason is to support an alleged 'Time out' on a grievance being served.

Thanks

Clarification

I need to be careful re disclosure, however, I have served a grievance concerning non selection for promotion (10 yrs in rank). I PVR'd and the CO has taken the promotion board release day as starting the 3 month 'timeout' rule. I argue that I could have been promoted up to my release date as a few named individuals have confided they cancelled their PVR to get promoted. Therefore, it is argued that the 3 month 'timeout' should commence from the day of leaving...

Hope that clarifies the issue. Before possibly going to a Judical Review on the matter I was hoping to get a few more individuals who had indeed accepted promotion after PVR'ing.

Thank-you for your interest

A mate of mine PVR'd after 6-7 years or so, worked in civvy street for a year, then got a call asking if he wanted to join back up again, with his tapes and posting of choice.

Strange things do happen!

Thank-you

Thank-you

Sospan,
thank-you for the link... I missed it on searching the site... although it refers to PVR and returning back into the service and a comment that some have withdrawn their PVR I was hoping to identify perhaps how many... whether it is a common event, rare or non existant?

Thank-you for your interest

Dragoon,
yes I have heard of this happening... I particularly want to hear of individuals who didn't leave...

Thank-you for your interest and quick response

I've seen and heard of this hapenning to people I know and friends of friends on numerous occassions, infact seems to be in fashion (some even say people have started doing it to ensure they get promoted though that's probably just bitter rumours).

Hope it goes well for you though.

Yes I agree rumours don't help

Thanks for that Crabbity Anne. I am currently PMing with 2 replies so it has/is happening and it will help me with the Commisioner.

I PVR'd last year, was offered promotion about 7 months later and a post that I really wanted.

Interested Wooky, had you been offered promotion or simply on the PSL?

Kernow,
Thank-you so much for responding. I was about 58 or something on the PSL and when I enquired when I would be promoted they couldn't tell me and also the number required for promotion fell short of my position.

Do I take it then that you are still in and happy in your new posting?

I really would like to PM you later re further chat if thats alright...

Regards

If they didn't need 58 then you haven't been aggrieved. Wouldn't you be better off submitting a FOI request asking for the promotion date of each placed person on the PSL? They could give you this without disclosing names, i.e. No 1 promoted on date, No 2 promoted on date and so on. This would be quicker than your SC and could also run alongside it. If the list stopped at, e.g. number 40 then you can canx your SC. If, however, they give a promotion date for number 60, you know you are on a winner with your SC.
