Morning all. Looking for some advice.
I've been asked to lay some Wreaths at a couple of events and I'm looking for advice on laying them.
I understand its a case of;

Walk to the area - bend down - place wreath - stand up - pause for 5- turn away - walk off

but is there anything I'm missing or any advice from anyone who has done a similar thing before? Is marching encouraged, as

Ta

Got to admit I've never done a wreath laying but I think that there's usually a 'nod' at the cenotaph/ thingy before the pause and walk away. I'm sure that someone will correct me!

JSP 808 will give you all the gen you need but to put it in a nutshellMarching is smarter - march to the area designated for wreath laying, wreath held in left hand, lower on to right knee and place the wreath, raise smartly, stand to attention, if in uniform salute, if not then bow head for approx five sections, turn and march to starting place.hope this helps

In civvies, a bow of the head is as important as a formal salute.
At the conclusion, take one step back, pause and march briskly off.

Many thanks. I'll have a look at the JSP but some great info. I'm not sure if marching will be an option due to the surface, but I'll take it into consideration.

Cheers

Kimwipe, AP 818 only gives a rough guideline for Remembrance Parades, not specifics on Wreath Laying (Part 2, Chap 20).

I'd suggest speaking with the SWO, or giving the Drill and Ceremonial guys at Halton a call.

If you're laying it in a military parade the SWO or officer heading up the parade will set the standard required. I'm sure you will be thoroughly briefed before the day.
