Not meant to be any kind of a perv thread...........but I've spotted a few good young tallented guitarists on you tube...........

Check some of these out.............

and this one is ten years old. Get the finger tapping.........

......and this one is just 13...........

If you hadn't have mentioned the perving thing, i wouldn't have thought it... :PDT_Xtremez_17: Nah just kidding mate.

They are pretty good aren't they? Only problem is that they'll probably get bored of playing within a few years...

Three very talented youngsters. It's very apparent that it's coming from their parents though. We've got 1. Gibson Les Paul 2. Flying V 3. Gibson SG. None of those kids could afford any of those, and fair enough, they'd need a pretty hefty paper round to get any of those. I strongly suspect that they wouldn't pick any of those guitars either - they've not heard about them except via their parents. Their playing was understandably jouvenile, but competent in their own way and style, that's how we all grew up musically. Good luck to all of them, but the last young girl will make it big - if she doesn't get pregnant too young!

All very true, Ping, but if you don't have the basic talent in the first place you don't get to play like that.
If my kids showed some sort of musical talent, I would provide them with as good an instrument as I could afford. Not so sure of your assesment about the choice of instrument though. Sometimes it comes down to the style of the player and prefered music.
I've been playing 43 years, and I don't play what I don't like.

Ahem....

2 was actually a Jackson Rhoads.

I know what you're saying though, my parents didn't play instruments, so I started with an Encore Nylon Acoustic. Learned a few things on that and moved on to an Encore Electric. It was only after the Nth time I took it to the shop to try and mend it's warped neck, that they payed out for a Squier Strat.

My mate on the other hand, his dad was a jazz guitarist. (Gibson E355 with 14's on! :0 ) So when he picked it up, he was given a Mexican Fender Telecaster.

Saying that though, I don't come from "money" whereas his dad owned his own printing company... 6 and two fives...

I know where you're coming from Mono.
I started when I was still at school, picking up battered electrics from 2nd hand shops for a fiver, and trying to make do and mend. It wasn't untill four years ago, aged 53 that I bought my strat brand new. That was something special, and it gave me a new confidence. Also I got it into my head that now that I have the real thing, there are no excuses. It worked.

57 eh? You old git! Getting a new zimmer for Christmas?
Surprised you can lift a Strat now, or do you have to sit down to play?:PDT_Xtremez_15:
