With the 'Help for Hero’s' charity being stretched ever more by requests from all three service personnel coming back from sandy climes. In order to keep the funds available to keep helping our colleagues, the 'Help for Hero’s' charity continuously needs our support. So with this in mind a team of 6 personnel from RAF Coningsby’s QCIT intend to ride the distance from Kandahar to Basra, some 1063 miles, on exercise bikes. The event will take place from 1600 on Thursday the 28th May and finishing at 1600 on Saturday 30th May in the foyer of Tesco on Wragby Road, Lincoln. The team consists of a pregnant scouser, a Grimsby guy with a dodgy leg and 4 semi normal people, so as you can see this really is a challenge to complete 1063 miles in just 48 hours!

It would be great if you could come along and show your support for this event by cheering on the team and maybe making a donation at the same time. For those of you who live too far or are unable to come alone on those dates we have set up a charity link with the 'Help for Hero’s'. Please make your donations, however small or large they may be to http://www.justgiving.com/coningsbyqcit and please remember, there could be a day when you need to call them?

We, at the Coningsby QCIT would like to thank you in advance of any donation you can make,

Thank you very much and we hope to see you there…

As a member of the team going to carry out the ride, I would like to thank the personnel who viewed this thread but feel rather disappointed that we have had no donations as yet.

I know times are hard what with the credit crunch but if every member of the goat was to donate £1 that's all £1 we could raise a significant amount of money that will be of enormous help to the lads and lasses who really need it.

Considering the link has only been there 20 hours, I find your post quite insulting funcle. Its payday NEXT WEEK remember...... where else have you posted that link? or is it just here?

Allow me to interject here before this goes the wrong way. I am sure Funcle’s words were meant as encouragement and not in any way intended to cause any animosity.

We are all agreed that the charity is very worthy as it could affect us all in one way or another, can we please keep this thread as it was intended… to help others!

Thank you…

Thanks JH, thats really appreciated. Will give you more details on Facebook later if you want to know who is involved and who is actually riding?

Thank-Q

That would be good ta, internet police are just as bad on the outside for not allowing access to FB at work!

Donated today as I get my PENSION today.. Ohh that feels good to say! :PDT_Xtremez_15:

I would like to apologise if my comments have offended anyone, no offence was meant or guilt tripping of people into giving as was also suggested, for my own reason (which i will keep to myself) I would love to raise as much as is possible and for that reason I may have seemed a little eager.

So please accept my apology if any offence has been caused.

Lucky girl, wish I was in your shoes (for the pay off only, I tried womens shoes but I cant get on with the heels, they just hurt my legs and the... erm...oops! lol!)

I will drop you a line later...

I know there were a few that said they were waiting for payday to get involved in this. I would like to bring this back to the attention of people if I may. It is for a great cause as we all know, but I would like to emphasise that it really does not matter how big or small your donations are, every penny is appreciated! It is entirely your own decision on how much or even if you choose to donate or not, I would like to make that clear!

I just wanted to bring this back to the front page, a huge thank you to those who have already made a donation, and to those who are about to…. thank you!
Anyway, just a thought…
