So a copious amount of silica gel might be in order ::D:

I was more concerned about the amount of CO to be honest, I am guessing that it's probably not safe to leave on while I am sleeping in the van!

Tell the truth, you've been sh@gging in the van and just want to keep your @rse from freezing over! :PDT_Xtremez_14:

I sell a nice line in CO detectors, if it helps!!!

Open the window a bit ya puff.

I concur sleeping in the van is a last-last resort in winter, I include for hammock, sleeping mat and good 4 season bag, and a trapper hat.

In the words of the father "fook off" :PDT_Xtremez_31:
I normally use an oil filled radiator, but I thought this might help keep my landladies electric bill down.... two weeks ago I was sleeping in fleecy trousers and jumper, thick thermal socks and a Thinsulate hat........ really toasty I was :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Just tell mummy Pugilist that big bad Mrs Pugilist is being horrible to you. I'm sure that your mummy can wipe it for you! :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Well that was a royal waste of a single malt..... funny though :PDT_Xtremez_31:

Once upon a time, it was quite common place to change the heater thermostat in autumn and spring. The winter stat stay's closed for a longer period meaning the water in the cooling systems heats up much quicker. I have a winter stat in mine all year round which means the engine is up to running temp within about 4 mins.
When you park the car up at night, switch on the windscreen wipers, then try to swich the engine off with the wipers in the vertical position, then place a bin bag or newspaper under them and have a nice clear windscreen in the morning.

My old man used to block half his radiator off with a sheet of ply in the winter.
Not so much cool air in the front made the heating warmer on the "older" vehicle!

That's posh. We could only afford a bit of cardboard. :PDT_Xtremez_31:

Halfords, as well as others, occasionally do a real bargain. I bought a 2kW electric fan heater for a tenner. If thing get real bad (not unknown in my part of the West Midlands), I connect a mains lead out to the car (I have some outdoor mains sockets) and run the heater. I put in on the passenger's seat.
It works a treat.

Building a fire is good unless you are transporting your fat bird's cat and you fry the bugger.

Have a good Chipsmas:PDT_Xtremez_14:.

one fire station i worked on the bay door broke in the down position in winter.
que oil filled rads and extension cables out the window to the appliance.
