20th Century Battlefields - Falklands

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
I've just bought Vulcan 607 to read whilst on the way to the Falklands in a couple of weeks time. Had a sneaky wee look at the piccies, can't wait to read the full story of the bombing raid.

I knew they were going to gloss over a few details as they only had an hour to cover the entire conflict, but there were quite a few glaring ommissions:PDT_Xtremez_42:

The one that made me laugh the most was that ALL the helicopters onboard Atlantic Conveyer were lost.

I thought they would have made a bit of a mention about BN (The survivor).

The only wokka to make it down there during the conflict is still flying now... last I heard it was out in the stan!:PDT_Xtremez_28:

HTB

Bravo November is in the Stan and still doing its stuff (No Opsec on this one, It's been in all the spotter mags that have covered the Falklands 25th Stuff).

And yes there were a lot of helicopters that did not sink on the Atlantic Conveyer, its just that 3 Commando Brigades plan of breakout from San Carlos were based on the 6 Wessex's and 3 Chinooks that were destroyed to lift the bulk of the manpower (and in the case of the wokka's the equipment which no other chopper could do with the required fuel load).

Well I like the little hour long program. Its not too heavy or long windedly boring like some can be!::P:

"Sheesh" I said, making sure my words were heavily laced with sarcasm, "Is there anything that they don't know about on Prune?! They seem to know everything, everywhere. I am humbled and in awe of their greatness!" :PDT_Xtremez_15:

Did I detect the briefest hint of sarcasm there MrMasher ? :PDT_Xtremez_31:

I watched the programme and while it did miss a lot out, it was entertaining and presented things simply enough for her-indoors to watch
and
She stopped talking at me for an hour,

so job done really

:PDT_Xtremez_31:

At least I think we can be thankful that they didn't brand the RN and RAF as the Army like other people in the Media like to do. :PDT_Xtremez_42:

like they did on some of the flooding reports. 'the army have moved into doncaster' cuts to a shot of a chinook. says it all really

"Sarcasm? From me?" he replied, his voice heavily laced with sarcastic overtones, "I shouldn't have thought so!"
