4 Years On TCW??

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
They've recently updated the tour lengths on the 'mighty 90'.

TCW standard tour is 3 year screened + 1 year - DWR exempt. Does not apply to FS & WOs as there are no specialist Qs required for post.

FGW is a normal tour, no fixed length, no screening.

That will explain why I've just been hit with a DWR out of nowhere.

Sorry to bring up such an old thread but could someone send me a copy (link?) to where this is stated please. Cheers Xchen

Gosh, I thought when you swore an allegiance and put on a uniform, you were consigning yourself to a life of adventure, danger and adversity. Serving the Crown is a privelege surely?

Mutinous mutterings shown here would dictate that you all have a refined sense of entitlement that quite frankly, you dont have. You either serve as you swore to, or stand aside and let someone else serve in your place and then get yourselves a nice civilian job working 9 till 5.

Don't know about you, but I took an Oath on attestation to:

"I......(Insert name)...... swear by Almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty......." and it goes on about defending her and the crown. Not going out to exciting and dangerous places!

Yes, I still have a copy of my attestation paperwork!

Another thought, making a statement like you have ^^^^^^ does that mean that you are still in??? Oh, you're not, must be nice having a 9-5 civvy job, eh?! So shut up donkey d1ck!

Would I be correct in making the assumption that this chump fella is writing to me? First of all, it would seem that you have but a fleeting aquaintance with the English language and with that also general comprehension, which surely should have been noted at the time of your induction into the Royal Air Force. A simple "look" at attestation in the OxEng will show how puerile, crass and mistaken your response is. Far be it for me to even try to "teach" you that. What is sad is that it is obvious you feel shame for your whinging and make silly and snide remarks to compensate.
As for serving, perhaps I could humbly suggest you take your whinge to your Squadron Boss and tell him that the RAF is very naughty for making you do things you do not like. In my day, when the joke ceased to be funny, it was time to leave and get that nice comfortable 9-5 job. Basically, if you dont like it, you have had your day so....... stand aside old man and let someone else have your place!
As for your last comment, yes God was kind to me in the trouser department so we have obviously met somewhere!

I hear a certain gob****e wobbly is trying to get that revoked for the FS posts. Apparently the ex TG11 arent up to the task and need extra training, so he wants everybody to do 4 years.

I was at at PMA brief last year where they talked about 3+1, and the whole room went home happy. Well i am now past my 3 year point, and it would seem the goalposts have f*cked off somewhere else.

I asked WO TCW about it, and he said the IBN had been revoked, hmm a tad suspicious I thought.

I then went to the Chf Clk to begin my posting process, and to be fair he was sound as, BUT to cut a long story short, PMA wont look at me till my 3.5 year point, and thats pretty much end of. Thats even though My squadron want me gone, to get the replacement trained up before the next OPS phase, and I have a GEN APP to that effect, with up to the Wing Co approving my release on 3 years, in the interests of the Sqn. But PMA couldn't give a sh!t about what the Sqn, TCW or indeed I think.

They talk of a return of service too, I came in Q'd up to the max, and have completed a gargantuan 6 DAYS training on courses, and completed 3 10 week dets and a 4 monther about to begin, I think they have had a pretty good ROS from me, yet I am still getting fisted.

I suspect there will be massive problems some way down the line for 90SU, after all the majority of people who have served at the hell hole of Leeming, will be most reluctant to ever come back and if they carry on with this 4 year sh!te, then who in their right mind would ever volunteer for this?

AND as for my biggest grip, I see folks here every day on their second/third tours, I see folks gettin posted back (without volunteering) on a weekly basis. Isn't about time PMA started lookin at all those in the trade who have had their cosy littly careers bouncing round the camps near theirhouses, scotland springs to mind here! Since 90SU/Leeming is a festering hole, then sureley it's only fair to share the wealth

hmm rant over for now.

wait till the 6 month dets start - then see the sh*t hit the fan

I did a 6 monther down south in 82 whilst on TCW, all part of the job if you ask me.

Did you do a six monther every year for six years?

I know plenty of guys who have been on the Wing for 6+ years and have done at least that amount of time away every year.

Part of being in the military is being shot at, doesn't mean to say you have to be happy about it.

Dets

Dets

No det lengths were usually far shorter, Norway could be a 3 monther.

I know plenty of guys who have been on the Wing for 6+ years and have done at least that amount of time away every year.

I did two tours of 3 years on the wing, and yes I did spend a fair amount away , cant recall the overall length etc now. Some trades got pinged for dets more than others.

Part of being in the military is being shot at, doesn't mean to say you have to be happy about it.

Totally agree with you about this. I also think that the subject of Det length comes with the job. Guess we will agree to disagee on this one.

Hear Hear ... lets get the people out of their comfort zones for once and see how hard the real workers or the RAF work

There are plenty of fecking slackers on TCW. It seems to be glass back central at the moment. FGW cant cope with the amount of det dodgers that the wing is trying to palm off.
