I've just been promoted to Cpl and given my TMT date, I realised that it's 6 weeks long!!! I checked to make sure I was given the correct dates and was informed that our TMT has changed from 2 weeks to 6 weeks. What the hell are we going to do for 6 weeks?

You will be learning all the new responsibilities that being a TG4 NCO entails. Jobcards could feature quite a bit.

Lots & Lots & Lots & Lots of job cards................... enjoy!!

Ps sorry i meant to say congratulations to you too, nice one!

Thanks for all the congrats, thought I might be doing a few job cards!!!

Six weeks TMT. Whats the problem, you go onto the higher payband as well.
B the way congrats on your tapes.

Dont get me wrong Im not complaining about the 6 weeks. I was just wondering what it was all about. Most people I've spoken to only did 2 weeks but that was before we became on big TG4 happy family!!!

I know they have included alot of health and safety in the new TMT

It depends on how long you have done in the RAF. I think that if you joined up after a certain date, they think that you have not enough experience to do the 2 week one. Also because of TG 4 you will have to be taught/know about the TG 3 side of things. Hope this helps.

LMN, 6 weeks TMT - nae luck hen!!
It was bad enough doing 2 weeks at a time going to Cpl and then Sgt. I can't comment on what you'll be doing as you're a different trade to me but congratulations on your promotion:PDT_Xtremez_30:

That's pretty much what I was told by my TMT instructor. I did 2 weeks despite already being TG4. Was told that it is more to do with how long newly promoted cpls have been in than TG4 stuff.

Not enough experience of the RAF or something like that!

please don't jump down my throat on this one it's just what i heard...from a pretty reliable source at Cosford

I've finally got my dates for TMT, my work mate has just come back from her's and it's been shortened to 5 weeks 3 days!

Although after doing 10 weeks for Assimilation, 5 weeks ain't too bad!

I'm course No 5! Can't wait!!:PDT_Xtremez_30:

Don't feel hard done by LMN. it's not only TG4's that are doing 6 weeks. The a/c techie SAC(T)'s are doing 6 weeks as well apparently due to the fact they haven't had as much traing as the old J/T system.

Congrats on your promotion.

Have you done JMLC yet?

anyone on tmt starting 16 april?

Havent done my JMLC or TMT yet. My JMLC is 2-13 Jul
TMT is 7 Jan - 18 Feb 08.

Anyone else on these courses?

Just finished my TMT or CPL FT as they call it , and they've cut it to 5 weeks, not 6.

And as for the length of service, it took me 12 years to get my tapes so the length of service done has no bearing on how long the course is

commsordeath,

That depends on which trade you were. It's compulsory for ex TG11 to do the 5/6 weeks to bring you up to speed with the TG3 side. If your ex TG3 then something has went disasterously wrong and you should only do a 2 week course.
