The best thing I can recommend is getting in touch with 8 or 54 and arranging a visit. You'll get to meet some of the ATs already doing the job and possibly the guys who are currently on the OCU.

I can't speak with authority about GE but AT is one of the best kept secrets, in my opinion. It's an interview post, as mentioned and the OCU is pretty full on. None of it is an attendance course and there is no such thing as "Learn and Dump" for each phase: you will be tested on everything you are taught from day 1 for six months.

You could also have a chat with the E3 GEs if that's something that interests you too.

Biggest piece of advice I can give is be proactive: do not expect to be spoon-fed information.
