Any information on the all Arms course? Is it trade specific.... New to this and haven't got a clue about how to work this... Any info appriciated

There are lots of All Arms Courses. Perhaps, the most famous being the All Arms Commando Course; perhaps the most mind-numbing is the All Arms Quartermasters' Course.

All Arms is a Army term applying to all elements of the Army - ie Infantry, RAC, AAC, RE, RSignals, REME, RLC....

If you're after the All Arms Commando Course then have a look through the DINs on the intranet.

IIRC correctly the main attendance is for those personnel who will go onto serve with 3 Cdo Bde; however, I believe that others can apply to take up any spare places (if their unit will spare them).

The best thing to do would be to get onto the MOD Intranet and look up the latest DIN. Oh, and chat it over with your chain of command before applying.

Have a think about why you want to do it. If it's do get the dettol badge then, perhaps, you need a better motivation. If, however, you want to try something that is physically and mentally challenging then there are other special jobs looking out for fit motivated individuals. Pop in and ask your chief clerk.

as i assume you are an AMM it will be at least 4 years until you have "learned" the AV trade, and thats only in theory. i would concentrate on the job you joined up to do, thats only my opinion but after the short time you have been in (as you said) keeping you're options open ? concentrate on the one you chose.

It's only wiki so not definative but

How are your basic field craft skills?? If you wear a blue suit my guess is they may need a little work. Not to put you off just to point out that perhaps it could be quite difficult for a UT techie to complete the course successfully. I joined the Royal Air Force a very long time ago and know of no RAF techie who has completed the course though maybe I have led a sheltered life.

I saw a jumper hung up in the Gym changing room owned by a wearer of the Cats ******** emblazoned with the Dettol badge just this last week. Nevertheless still a rare sight as it's the first one worn by a blue suit that I've ever seen in over 12 years.

Good effort mate if you manage to complete it because it is meant to be well hard!

Good luck. :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Last one I know who tried was an engine Cpl in 1988 damn good he was by RAF standards he didn't make it.

Thanks for that .. Like a said , was going to consider it in the future once av learned my trade.. Would like to know that a there's a chance a can go out as well as have learned my trade. Keep your options open I was always told as a child...

I'd say you were still a child. Your spelling and grammar is shocking.

As an aside, ex OC 6 had completed the AACC.

Thing is, if he cannot take the banter on here then he has no chance on the AACC, or any course or place of work.

And why not join the RM in the first palce?

Banter aside mate, you will be lucky to be released for this by the sounds of it. Can't see you being released during training, which if you are an AMM is quite long training anyhow. Once at a permanent unit, you probably stand your best chance, but it sounds like not many techies get it if that is your chosen trade. Doesn't stop you trying though does it. You can only ask the question. Just be persistent if you really want it, and by the sounds of it, make sure your uber fit. Be aware though, that your chosen trade is your priority and this would be a bonus. Good luck:PDT_Xtremez_35:

My view is - go for it if you can.

Nice to hear of someone who can motivate themselves to do more.

Too many people on this site whinge about doing the most basic of things, like passing their RAF Fitness Test.

Perhaps he wants to be in the Airforce but fancies seeing if he could complete what is probably about the most physically challenging thing he will ever do? That's like saying if someone wants to go parachuting should have joined the Para's... it could just be something he wants to achieve rather than something he wants to spend his life doing.

To the OP. Maybe you should do a bit of investigation about the course. Ring RMCTC Lympstone and speak to the guys there who I'm sure will be happy to speak to you about what the course entails as I think you will struggle to find many people on here who know much about it.... or you could try PM'ing Royal Marines 1664 on here. He used to be an instructor at Lympstone and I'm sure he would happily give you any Gen he could.

RAF Bird, your analogy is not quite right. After all you can choose to go and throw yourself out of an aircraft for fun if you so choose.
By doing the AACC there will an element of pay back, it is not a fun. The same goes for the AAPPC, (P Company).
