Dear Goaters

A subject very close my heart,

With the growing number of children with mild disabilities ( ie High Functioning Autism, ADHD and Aspergers) now being educated in mainstream schools, This petition is calling for all teachers and LSAs to have training to assist them in understanding these conditions.

A signature to this would be appreciated

The current signatures = 5789

Thanks Obi & Mrs Obi Wan

I qualified as a teacher last year and the topic of learning differences was covered fairly extensively...we also got introduced to the in-house team that specialise in LD's and the county team that support them. IMO aside from knowing and accepting you have people in your class which allows you to plan for learning differentiation you're going to need support from specialists otherwise the majority of the class won't get your attention as you'll get tied up...in a class of 13 last year I had two diagnosed with ADHD and three that in my opinion were undiagnosed and really hard work due to that...

Thanks for your comments Vim; your recent qualification may well be the standard now, but appears to be lacking with those who have a few more years under there belts, hence this thread.

Thats done. Now at 7878 sigs.

Have a severely autistic nephew and his brother is on the AS spectrum as well so this issue is close to my heart as well. The more that can be done to help the individuals and parents who often have to fight to get the appropriate education and care the better.

Good luck with this.
