I'm due on ATSC (TMT) next week for 4 weeks at Cosford and was wondering exactly what in the way of allowances I will be entitled to - and how much? Im currently in MQ's and will be travelling back on weekends. Obviously the usual incidentals fiver a day but what else - GYH mileage etc ?

Any good gen appreciated

Well another one of our finest, who can't read a book.

Sorry but surely there are loads of these threads?

Why not just say
"HI EVERYONE LOOK AT ME I GOT PICKED UP!"

JSP 752, it's your friend. Come now cpl, should be able to find these things out!

Appreciated PTR, it's a little lazy of me but I was on the off chance that someone might have been recently and had rough figures - if you don't ask you don't get, and reading JSP's is boring as fcuk.

Are you for real? So when someone asks for travel tips you tell them to "Read a fcukin' brochure" do you? The topic happens to be related to promotion and that automatically makes me a cnut? What a load of sh!t.

Subject to your status you'll be looking at all or a combination of, GHY (the detachment one), IE (£5 a day for each night spent in the block), Subsistence (during your journey to and from Cosford at the start and finish of the course if your journey is long enough for you to qualify) and you should get a return trip MMA, if you are not made to use MT.

You will pay food charges so make sure you put in leave passes for the weekends so you don't pay for food you don't have - but remember not to claim IE for these days as that's not the done thing.

Or you could read the joining instructions on the Tossford website and phone the nice lady in TMT Admin. She will do your JPA arrival when you get there and should be able to give you a clear idea of what you entitlement sare

Cheers for the gen'. I was hoping there would be some type of admin' person there so thats ideal.

Another example of the spoon fed yoof that expect everything done for them - this is the NCO of tomorrow. Would you like 2 ply, or extra quilted as well?

Hand your tapes back loser, there will be plenty of people that will read JSPs & take your place. Do you think reading JSPs is out of your job spec now?

Sorry (sort of)

Look it's fine going off what someone else has claimed for until you get done for fraud? It's quite a clear book to read and if it means money then I am willing to go through the boring stuff.

As said you should get GYH but is based on milage between RWA and Cosford so no one on here can tell you what you can get. Also each camp is different about duty travel, some will make you take a train, or a one way hire there (and 1 for the way back) rather than allowing you to take your own car. Then there is the insurance side of it if they let you self drive. If you try claiming for stuff without speaking to YOUR unit admin you may find yourself in trouble?

All I meant is I know a fair few SAC's in my trade (not shiney!) who have the capability to sort this out by themselves and they are getting overlooked.

A lot people who post on here are bell ends.
A lot of the responses have come from people who have had to look in a phone book for the admin section and ask an actual person whos job it is to know this **** or know more details on allowances than yourself. Asking a casual question on here can be helpful it's not the be all and end all of allowances gen. Thats the JSP which is broken down into chapters and sub chapters in the ferking index if you don't want to flick from front to back. I bet you haven't even tried asking your section admin bird??

By all means if it's vague (quite often it is) or lack of understanding then ask for clarification but to ignore it's existance in the first place is ****. As an NCO you will have subordinates which will be looking to you as an experienced member of the RAF. Man the **** up and look it up in the book.

But what happens when the admin clk and the JSP are telling you two different things, both of which could be correct*...

*Obviously they both can't be correct, but the interpretation can

The fact you mentioned TMT wound me up!

You are detatched for 4 weeks ? So normal allowances apply. The book is there and is fairly clear now. Maybe you have never been detached before and just sat at a desk kissing butt.

So if a HR professional and the book disagree then others experiences might help? But I am pretty sure a post on here would not hold much weight in a service complaint!

Re: Allowances on TMT @ Cosford

Yes but does give a fella an idea what may be coming his way and what to look at in the book.

Seems to be a lot of tetchy people on here. In my opinion they guy just asked a simple question, after all this is a forum.

Ask yourself this...If you get lost do you all go and find a map or do you ask someone directions?

It's just that fact that he is off on a promotion course that gets me. When i went to JMLC a guy on my syndicate got RTU'd because he couldn't be bothered to get hold of joining instructions. I'm only a young pup myself but i still know to read JSP's and the JAP. On courses like this of course it's fine to ask questions but as someone has already said as a cpl you shouldn't need to be spoon fed. If your getting your tapes up it's likely that you have been away somewhere in the country for a course/det isn't it and you should have a rough idea already, shouldn't you? Anyway i heard a rumour that instead of the 4 man rooms ATSC students are getting put up in hotels since there's no room at the inn, if so theres an extra penny or 2 to spend!

Well personally id check the JSPs but ask here as well to see if there was anything anyone could think of that i might be entitled to. Easier than wandering over to PSF and trying to explain what you are looking for over there, as some people may have been in the same situation and able to help.

As for the whole joining instructions etc, i would have thought that when you were pinged for a course your name would have been put forward and the joining instructions sent out... thats what the course admin should be sorting not expecting a Corporal to ring around trying to find out the score.

As you would expect. This bone idle tw4t has stated he cant be arsed.

Sad reflection of the shoddy JNCOs that the Air Force has these days.

Surely a large porportion of the blame must rest with the SNCO 1st ROs of today?
