The Hilton Salalah was one of my favourites, being something of a regular haunt at one stage. The nearby Oasis Club was great for a meal.Best: Hilton in Salalah, Oman, beach facing with patio doors straight onto beach.
Worst: Nasirayah (spell?) In Iraq, small tent which was ripped apart by the wind, no beds/furniture just bare. Ended up sleeping in the wagon for a week. Only showers were cold and you had to stand on a wooden pallet to avoid the filfth.
Worst was between transit at Barnham Camp in the mid eighties and a tent in the Kuwait Airways training hangar a short while after GW1. The missile/bomb lodged in the roof set it off nicely.
Basra and Incirlik were delightful in comparison, and, tbf the catering (or allowances) were top-notch.
I have marked Basra down for the over aggressive neighbours.
