Just after some help really.

my sjar has been finalised and sent back to me and im unhappy on a few things.

one of the things im unhappy about is the "rank for future employment", im a sac(t) and they have got his down as JT and it should be cpl.

Also unhappy about some of the 2nd r/o comments and after talking to him about it he has decdied to change it but doesnt know how to.

Now im serving at an army camp and they have no idea on how to call it back so i was wondering if anyone on here could shed some light on it for me please.

thanks

I wouldnt worry about the JT bit, as the rank doesnt exist any more (apart from the final few who are waiting for Cpl). It was the same on my SJAR before i got promoted, so dont panic!

As for recall, it should go through some form of Chief Clk. Im sure they will be able to sort something out.

Speak to the appraisals clerk. They can call the Sgt in Manning and as long as it is justified, they will send it back to your administrator.

Once a report has been finalised, it has effectively been released to the board, so you need a REALLY good reason to recall it. If the narrative is factually incorrect, you may have a slim chance, but if it is the general tone etc you have Bob.
This is from experience in just the last few weeks trying to recall one of my guys' SJAR, so is definitely current 'gen'. Sorry it's not great news.

You should really have picked up wrong rank when the report came to you from your first RO - you have clicked to say you are happy with the report and for this reason you are less likely to get the report back. That said, the Clerk who finalised it should also have picked it up - so if you have any RAF Clerks were you are now, ask them to ask and you never know. If you get no joy, like a couple of posters above have stated, you don't need to worry about it too much.

You are highly unlikely to get the report back because you are not happy with the tenure of the 2nd RO narrative. As long as what he has said is factually correct, he can right pretty much what he wants.

Off Topic hehe, ok you guys, you got me! Very poor on my part.

Now all we have got to do is sort you pair out and your shoddy use of spaces before and after your !'s. None before and two after.

None before ? I think not. Two after ? I think not.... :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Crack on.................:PDT_Xtremez_09:

I accept apologies, mastercard, visa, etc. etc.

thanks for the replies.

when the report was sent to me from the 1st ro the rank thing was correct.

its only since the 2nd ro has done his bit that it has changed.

i only got to see this after it had been finalized!

it needs calling back as the 2nd ro has put a comment in there which will potentially ruin my chances of getting picked up in the next 3 years!! which as im sat at 56th on the board that sat in january is a big issue for me.

plus the thing he has said wasnt mentioned at all by my 1st ro (army captain) and we never had any sort of mid term for it to picked up on then!!

To be fair this years sjar has been a cluster for start to finish and its probably going to do my career no good at all which im ****ed off about.

we are a small group of 11 raf lads at an army unit, my 1st ro should of been my chief but he left the raf and pma havent filled his post so it was left to an army capt to do my 1st ro with guidance from the 2 cpls we have.

ive seen this capt 3 times in the last year and thats it.

i had to fight to get the marks and write up i needed off him and to be fair his write up is pretty good.

however the 2nd ro major(ive met him once btw) has had his input and its crap. totally contradicting himself??

he has wrote just one sentence in my potential box which i think is pretty ****.

he has sought guidance from another raf cpl who fails to see the bigger picture and its only the intervention of my now acting snec that the major has seen what he needs to correct and hence why it needs pulling back.

phew! got that off my chest

Good luck with getting it back then. If you get no joy at your unit, you might need to "borrow" someone from an RAF unit nearby (or your previous unit maybe?) and get them to ask on your behalf.

Quite simply if you don't like or agree with a comment - tough. The narrative is subjective and (as previous posters have intimated) unless it contains a factual inaccuracy it will not be changed. However you can appeal to the 2nd RO and ask if he will change the narrative. If he does decide to oblige then he should contact your HR bod and get them to do it. FYI If it all goes horribly wrong then your only course of redress is to submit a service complaint and do so on one of two grounds:

a. You failed to get a mandatory mid-term appraisal in writiing.
b. You feel disadvantaged becuase of your current reporting chain.

thanks for that.

im sat at 56th on this years board so a well written, good sjar this year will hopefully see me even higher and possibly promoted next board.

however the 2nd ro has made no effort in his boxes and one line he has put in there is factually incorrect , my act snec has been over to see him and he is now trying to find out how to get the sjar pulled back so he can amend his boxes.

but being an army camp they dont know how to do it which is why im asking on here.

Sorry this post isn't related to your question but the idea of SJARs is that they are a Tri-Service appraisal and the way are dealt with should be the same, shouldn't it? Feckin Pongos wind me up.

Here is a long shot. As the 1RO and 2RO seem to disagree then you have grounds to have a 3RO. Admittedly this should have been picked up before finalising. Again speak to the appraisals cell to see what they can do. Bottom line is you need to speak to the clerks fairly pronto.
