Hi all,

I'm having issues confirming whether or not a fitness supplement (Jack 3D) is allowed in the RAF.

I've spoken to my medical centre who weren't entirely sure and advised me to speak straight to CDT, however, they can't give me a contact number and I'm unable to find anything on the intranet.

Anyone able to help with the number?

Thanks for your help guys and gals

Tried speaking to any of the muscle mechanics who run the gym, thought the PTi's may be able to guide you

Not tried the mirror queens yet, good idea. There are so many rumours about it being ok or banned over here, I don't know what to think anymore, so figured straight from the horses mouth is a good idea

If in doubt don't take it. Don't ask a PTI as they won't know! To be on the safe side check the following http://www.globaldro.co.uk/, it is sports specific but if the supplement or it's constituent elements are on the database, then just don't risk it.

Clean healthy diet is probably all you need. If you need extra protein just use a simple whey protein.

1,3-Dimethylamylamine which is the active ingredient, is banned in loads of sports in the UK as it is a stimulant.

I cannot see the RAF being chuffed with you taking large amounts of a stimulant on a regular basis like that? But like you said, you are going to have to actually check with the CDT guys to be absolutely sure.

Thanks noidea, I've stopped taking it until I get a definitive answer, its not a supplement per se its more of a boost so I can train harder/longer to help me gain fitness quickly after a long downgrade as I only have a week left to pass the fitness test before maa action is taken

CDT at our place last week said anything bought in the UK is ok. If bought or brought in from overseas, then it needed to be declared on the form.

Dangerous, who recommended Jack 3D for that? After a lengthy downgrade, especially if it's kept you pretty sedentary, a stimulant that increases your heart rate so much on top of exercise which will do the same could do you more harm than good. Your heart is a muscle remember, you wouldn't go straight into benching 200lbs after not lifting for six months would you? Glad you've stopped taking it.

It was a friend who suggested it, and yes I know you should always obtain medical advice before taking it but they only gave me 5 weeks to pass the fitness test after my 3 year downgrade

That seems a bit harsh, is the rehab PTI helping you out?

I imagine they have cleverly crafted a bespoke fitness regime, personally tailored to his specific set of circumstances to ensure he returns to full fitness, both safely and rapidly.

Which will coincidentally the same as everybody else's.

The ERI is good and has helped me a lot however having lost all abdominal strength during my downgrade, I'm now struggling, I have to go back to the docs and see if they'll give me a bit longer to pass but that's their choice.

We joke, but this is tragic. Here's a lad who after a lengthy period medically downgraded seems to have been left to his own devices, with a laughably short timescale, to get himself up to match fitness. So sh!t scared is he of the consequences of affecting the Stashe's stats for the month he risks his health to go balls out to desperately achieve the set target. Easily could result in injury, starting the whole sorry process again. Fcking laughable, if it wasn't so serious.

Especially when you consider that 2 American servicemen died using this stuff. It was found that they had pre-existing issues that made them susceptible, but then that could so easily have been the case here too.

I hope whoever made the decision to give somebody 5 whole weeks to get fit again after a 3 year downgrade never has to ask themselves the question 'was it my fault'? after somebody else does the same and it goes wrong.

Remember, KPIs affect your bosses promotion, don't make him look bad!

Thanks HotspurIDO, I'm glad someone else can see my situation, I am trying (been to the gym everyday sometimes twice to get fit).
I did try the fitness test yesterday but failed, not by much but still a fail.

I would love to be able to pass before the end of next week just so I could turn around and say well despite you giving me a short time I still did it so up yours.

Sorry to jump in on this thread, but I heard a rumour that the energy drink Monster can also cause you to fail CDT. Any truth in this?

Off Topic. I don't understand this (and I know there was another thread running on the subject) but at a secret ISTAR unit in Lincs if you have been downgraded temp or otherwise, then it is an automatic supervised 12 week return to fitness program, before taking your fitness test. So why the difference especially if you could end up loosing your health again or as has been indicated worse if you took this stuff?

You are right about speaking to the Doc's again mate. Best of luck

I was downgraded for a year, got upgraded, saw the PTI's who gave me 28 days to pass the FT, which I didn't, got MAA'd and started their 12 week 'one size fits all' program, which was basically turn up to our circuits 3 times a week. I finally passed the FT but thought the 28 days were a bit short to get back to fitness, when questioned they told me "those were the rules". Needless to say I can't wait to use that if possible on one of them when they visit my world.
