It really is unbelievable that there (seems) not to be a common approach to a return to fitness following a significant downgrade.I would have thought that if you have been downgraded for a considerable amount of time then you need a certain amount of time to get fit to any standard. I know each case is different but surely to err on the side of caution would be the right thing to do. Perhaps this would be common sense so there is no way the RAF would play ball. I'm not saying someone who has been downgraded for 2 yearsshould have 2 years to get fit but they would need quite an amount of time surely?Any medical peeps give us a steer as to what the policy actually is?

If you arrive for a fitness test and you are medically unable to do it then you can not be MAA'd. With the Doctors advice and guidance; when you are able to do the fitness test he will say so, if ,in the meantime, you are fit enough to do re-hab then the PTI's will nurse you to a stage whereby you are able to attempt the RAFFT. When you do attend the RAFFT declaring fitness to do it, if you fail you will then be MAA'd and given a 12 week training programme to get you tyo a stage whereby you can pass. If you fail again and you have demonstrated a positive attitude you will be given a further 12 weeks and so on until such a time comes where they deem you incapable of completing it and either Med Discharge or kick you out for not putting enough effort in if there is nothing wrong with you.( That is miles down the line though)

In a nutshell: Do not put yourself under unnecessary pressure to complete the RAFFT if you are not well enough to do it. The system id there to help and protect you..USE IT and do not start taking ridiculous chemicals to achieve your aims.
