Douglas Bader wouldn't have put up with that.
He would have been straight on the phone to some poor supplier, and shouted at hime untill he got the spares he needed to get his Sqn serviceable.:PDT_Xtremez_30:

Oh and signal the AOCinC HQ Fighter Command to say his squadron is non operational due to lack of spares, without asking the Station commander (or AOC 12 group) first, can't do that now as the is no Fighter Command (or 12 Group either).

Ah, another member of the "Douglas Bader was not that great" club. Brave man and all but very questionalble methods. Helped do in for Dowding as well!

Bader is a complex bloke to define, Brave, maybe, Reckless most definitely (thought most people who pull off a recovery from the injuries that he sustained when he lost his legs tend to have the taint). The day he was shot down over France (by a pilot from his own wing), the aircraft was carrying a number of defects on take off. Bader had bollocked junior pilots on his wing for not turning back with the same defects, he didn't follow his own rules, let alone anybody elses (and in most cases his tactics sucked). As for Dowding and Park, the best two fighter leaders we ever had, the part that Bader played in their downfalls was unforgivable.

Damn journos, finally found the right picture and changed it. I would look a complete c0ck now if CBH and CoD hadn't seen the same pictures. :PDT_Xtremez_28:

I saw the same pictures too, and knew they were wrong, just did't know what they actually were. So you weren't dreaming!

Fair cop TBJ, most journalists who pass themselves off for Military aviation specialists couldn’t tell the difference between a Tornado and an Elephant.

So if there are any of you Journos spying on our site, I will help you.

This is a Tornado:

And this is an Elephant:

RAF/MoD/PA wire

Are you sure that this isnt just a made up story cause the propellery thingies on the Bear do not appear to be going around. Just another publicity stunt perhaps?

Not very colourful markings for a Flicker, don't they paint Sqn markings on them anymore? Plus that looks more like a Bear Delta, than a Foxrot. Didn't the Russian's tell us they were coming down for a peek? They have done so before.

Any high soeed photographs taken of ac with propellors turning will make the props look as if the are not moving.

Re the F3 its a 43 Sqn ac as can be seen by its numerals on the tail - G prefixed = 43 Sqn, H prefixed = 111 sqn.

So black and white checkers, or Black and Yellow Lightning flashes are out, I though it was a GR4 before I noted the longer nose and Missiles on the belly, Very Bland.

It isn't just the press that get it wrong.
If you have a look at the RAF Lossiemouth station website, and click on any of the Sqns, then "Aircraft and Equipment" it shows a picture of a 2 Sqn tonka.:PDT_Xtremez_26:

But at least its a Mud Mover one, even if not at ISL. Anyhow the 2 Sqn Tonka photo is a default page filling photo on the standard RAF Web page template, hence its not a mistake by your webmaster, its just he's not got around to putting another photo instead.
