Does anyone else have the problem of being able to hear normal conversation, but lose it as soon as the ambient noise level rises? Mrs 'fuse is great at talking, but not facing me, especially in the supermarket and getting ratty 'cos I'm not replying about what brekkie cereal she should get, etc.

Also, does anyone else have the sudden and sharp increase in volume of the tone? No infection says my doc, but is it anything to do with air pressure/weather conditions? I wish I knew.

To the first, yes. It's one of the reasons I don't like going to pubs these days. To much noise and I can't pick out a voice in the conversation. It all becomes one loud hubbub.

To the second, not that I've noticed.

10 0r 11 years working on structures, 7 in 8 sqn. Loud environments. 8 was probably worse because unless you were in the test house or cleaning plant you never wore ear defenders.
Still Me old Sparrow in 7 used to wear his yellow ear plugs from 8 till 4 and Kieth T sometimes wore his home...... allegedly :PDT_Xtremez_31:
