Esg? Tech Stores?

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
Supply here has now become RMS (Resource Management Squadron is my best guess). In the techy arena we have lots of new commissioned posts which is odd giving as the non commisioned ranks are being leaned to the point of extinction (yet a Wg Cdr post and 2 Sqn Ldr posts have been created as contract monitors) we will soon have more people monitoring contracts than personnel working within them. FSW Is Forward Support Wing, DSU is Depth Support Unit and the new DES I am led to understand is Depth Engineering Support although who is part of which is an ongoing mystery. it makes trying to get to speak to the right section on the phone a right pain in the @rse!:PDT_Xtremez_09:

Mate, I thought you knew we are all called 'F&L' now. Also, here at that secret Oxfordshire base where you got very, very, very drunk the other day, 'F&L' is no longer part of 'Supply', 'LSW' or whatever it's called this week, we are now part of ASS, which is part of APOE wing. I like being part of ASS, and I now answer the phone saying ASS. Some people hang up and phone back, then ask the question....Airfield Support Squadron. (It's true and you couldn't make it up).

D

Lets see now....in a 12 month period we've been POL (part of BSF), followed by POL(BF) as we only look after bulk fuels - packed stocks a seperate entity at this unit. Oh...and we were part of LSF. Within 2 fcuking months we were MTF&L flight, coz bowsers were going to come under our remit, and the section was called F&L(BF). :PDT_Xtremez_25:
Bored with that a couple of months later, we re-named as LSF(BF) - Logs Support Flt (Bulk Fuels), but that just got too confusing when they tried to set up the email addresses!!!!! :PDT_Xtremez_42:

We're now back to being F&L (albeit section instead of flight!) :PDT_Xtremez_09:

We still answer the phone POL. :PDT_Xtremez_30:

We now just pencil the section/flight details on our local orders/LPFs etc - saves a sh!tload of trees dieing unnecessarily when the next change occurs.

Crazy thing is that sometimes we change to follow US doctrine and by the time the steam powered wheels of bureaucracy have ground out the new signs, APs etc the Spams have changed again!

After about our third change of command at a NW London unit we were all called in to the briefing room by our RO2 civil servant boss to be asked for suggestions as to what we should call our 'new organisation'. When I suggested the name we had been called 3 reorgs before, I was accused of not taking it seriously.

I replied I was just trying to save taxpayers money by cancelling the Works Service to remove the old signage... :PDT_Xtremez_21:

I would help if the phone book has been reorganised at the same pace, the internet desktop directory is always out of date.

I know what you mean. At Odiham the desktop directory is at version 20 already!

So it seems that there are no sections that are still called what they used to be. I went to Odiham a while ago and had to go see about getting a phone line so i went to comcen and imagine my surprize when told they dont have anything to do with that! Isnt comcen short for something?? Anyway had to go to the C4I section i was told thought they were having a laugh but it turns out its a real section!

I agree; the same goes for posts. I once had a conversation with someone and said "blah blah COS Support blah....", he enquired who/what COS (spt) was and i said "Oh, OC Admin"...."ahhhhh, ok" he replied. Same job, different title.

But how much is it costing to continue this farce, month in month out ? Signage (for buildings and internal doors), headed notepaper, telephone directories, internet updates...the list is endless......and how is this helping the RAF become MORE efficient ?

I am still in the dark as for what C4I stands for, if any one knows let me know.

Last year we were known as jakass aka J and K aircraft servicing sqn

And hence the geeks shall inherit the earth!

why not call it that then??

But i reckon its a conspiracy by the painters to keep there trade and make more signs and paint stuff

So are there any other Logistics Sqn's out in the RAF world with an MMDF?? Otherwise known as Materials Management Distribution Flight. In old terms I think it replaces BSF. Sounds impressive but same old $hite really.
