7yr SAC not many of us around i know, fed with there mass of orifcers clogging our trade trying to re-event the wheel to further themselves and junior officers taking up fom positions(bring back aircrew in charge least they left you alone most of the time), fed up with people getting promoted without trade knowledge it would seem, thinking off going RAF Regt, SF, Special employment anything to get out. :PDT_Xtremez_09:

After having read your original thread and then the rest of them, one has come to the conclusion that you are a utter immature and bitter prat. What makes you think that you have the qualities for remuster, as for SF and Special Employment, the nearest you will ever get to these is the annual briefings at station level, or buying the latest Andy McNab tosh.
TESCOs are recruiting, what are you waiting for ?

^^^^^^^ what he said.

If you live in a little bubble where you genuinely believe that an SF job is easier attained than promotion to Cpl in TG9 then have you considered that you may not get promoted on the grounds that you have the intelligence and emotional maturity of a 6 year old.

Please please please, do TG9 a favour and PVR or get up off your walt ar$e and instead of bleating on about it apply to RAF Regt or UKSF. If you are successful then good for you. If you are unsuccessful at least you have shown you have the ambition to improve your own situation and not to sit back and watch others do it for you.

Rant off!!

I agree, its the ideal trade to get to Cpl in and if you wanted to control then Warrant is in your own hands too. If you cant put the work in for Cpl in our trade then you should definitely consider a new career, not a SF one though as whinging isnt really their thing.

it seems unfortunate that you haven't been picked up by now, but to blame it on JO's isnt fair. and is not a true reflection on the trade in general.
fair enough, it is in a bad way, but i think its always been that way, at least since the early 90's, varying from no promotion to rapid promotion.
as you say, a 7 year SAC is rare, but by no means unheard of!
have you any idea why you havent been promoted? clash of personalities at a station perhaps? a lot of moving around so your 6000's never had the pleasing upwards slope?
come on, let us into it, and perhaps the senior FOM bods on here will give you some pointers!

Ever thought the the F6000 system is starting to bite???

I have no idea what your 6000's have been like but if the write up doesn't match the numbers, there is a good chance it'll be regraded.............so you may think you have a bl00dy good chance on the board, but infact due to assesment creep and a poorly written 6000 - you have not!

what is assessment creep?
anyway, as a journeyman corporal, assessments mean nothing to me, lol

what is assessment creep?

You having a laugh?.............. Is he having a laugh??

Its when the grades on assessments across the board creep up because people are 'trying to get their man/woman promoted'

IE - they get a High Rec, when in fact they should maybe have got a rec (or less) because 'everyone's bumping the scores up, so I might as well do it'

Its not good, it was endemic with the F6442, the F6000 tried to address it, who knows for SJAR?

gotcha! but i dint realise there was a bone fide term for it!
but if the the narratives dont match the numbers what odds is it? i remember a few years ago, i was told in some briefing or other, that the promotions boards dont look at the numbers anyway, just the narrative. in fact(i was told), they were considering putting the numbers at the edge of the report where they could then put perforations and tear them off before they reached the boards.

Surely not, McD!

That would be a gross waste of time, effort and public money...

Oooooh dear me no!

there is probably a good reason why you are a 7 yr SAC.

there is probably a good reason why you are a 7 yr SAC.

8 and a half yr SAC here!! My good reason is that I spent the best part of 4 yrs at the flight ops graveyard where no matter how hard you work if you have an opinion on anything you're screwed!! Very much a face fitting tour, and mine didn't!

God bless 84 Sqn where you get rewarded for doing a bang up job!!

4 years at the same place, and you still didn't get the steady curve? Well, here's an idea or two that you may have overlooked....

1. If you didn't get on with your 1RO, tell your 2RO about it. Alternatively, have a chat with the 1RO and see what you can do to work your differences out. Find out why he/she rates you as they do, and then mark out a career plan.
2. Speak to the desk about moving to another station
3. Speak to the PFOM about moving to another section...there must have been 3-4 options for you, assuming you were a first tourist and couldn't apply for a squadron post, with ATC/Stn Ops/Flt Planning/Mission Planning, etc.
4. Have a chat with any other JNCO/SNCO about what you'd what the SAC to do, if they were in your RO's place.
5. Get some high profile secondary duties....Cadets/Station bar/Stn Ents committee/Station sport......
6. Don't argue with an NCO, of any rank, cos, ultimately, they'll be right, even if they appear wrong, cos I assure you, they'll always know something that you don't.
7. Offer yourself for extra duties that interest you, such as mentoring new LAC's when they come onto station, helping at the British Legion, something like that.

That's what I'd have done. Mind you, what do I know.....I'm just an SAC with three reports, wondering what the board will say this year. Oh, and I got my JATCC this year, after 2 ARCT's, a hell of a lot of hard work, and great support from people like FOMz, POB, Lovetoad and numerous others, who i went to for advice and support, in accordance with some of the above points.

It does work :PDT_Xtremez_15::PDT_Xtremez_28:

yup, did all that! 2nd RO the problem, 1st had no backbone. Finally had enough when I was in the Falklands last year and had to change my options big time. Now in Akrotiri where I'll finally get a decent assessment but still looking at 12 yrs as an SAC unless the Controller thing works out. Ho hum.
Good luck for your JATCC!!

thanks man - it's only a fallback option, cos i'm waiting for an OASC date at the moment, which is really what i want, but it's a nice fallback, nonetheless :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Akrotiri? I know a few bods down there - if you know her, send my best to an eva longaria lookalike :PDT_Xtremez_28::PDT_Xtremez_18::PDT_Xtremez_19:
