Fitness test and CCS poilcy documents

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
I don't know if it's just me, but for the life off me I can't understand the attitude of those that think of attending a fitness test or CCS as such a huge chore they need to look for ways of avoiding it. They aren't going to stop you leaving if you fail so what's the problem. Do it a bit early to avoid clashes with resettlement activities.

I think it's more the principle of being made to run between 2 lines to ensure you are fit to do your job(even though this is Bo**ocks) even when you are leaving and no longer need/want/are in the job for which you are jumping through nonsense hoops.

Slightly off topic but still on the subject of Fitness Testing; has anyone any views on IBN 01/12 regarding extension of mandatory testing from age 55 to 65 from Apr 12. Could this be a precursor for extending full engagement from age 55 to age 60 to push back the point at which a 'full' pension is awarded?

Maybe, just maybe, it's because people at the point of leaving have had enough bullsh1t and it's time to stick 2 fingers up.

Agreed in toto.

What has the policy of completing this fitness test achieved?

Some are fitter to an extent which is laudable but I think it's main achievement has been to render a ridiculously high percentage of the RAF undeployable, made greater employment opportunities for physios (who as long as their books are full will always have a job...go figure) and will have this problem until policy sorts it out just in time for the armed forces to largely pull out of AFG and further downsize being unable to let anyone who's 'injury' was caused in service to be included in any redundancy trawl unless they want legal and financial action.

Good J-O-B!

FTRS, and regulars could always stay in until 65 if there was a service need so no change there, they just had a big clear out a few years ago.

Vim,

The current fitness test was designed to be easily administered rather than a true test of fitness, as chosen by PTI's which its why it's crap, and it took the RAF about 15 years to match a test to a need to keep fit and start bringing in compulsory PT.

Sent with predictive text, apologies for bad wording

The cube root of zip! Except as you say, more people with twisted sock syndrome.
