One of the guys in my workplace will be in his last 6 months of his contract come april, when our next fitness tests are due, and he says that there is a rule that because of this, he doesnt have to do it.
Is this true or false?
Simple answer = False.
Exemption from the requirement to undertake the RAFFT are listed in AP3342, Section 4, Leaflet 42 (available on intranet). The siutation you describe is not listed as an exemption.
Currently correct but as Joe 90 says, the regime for booting you out makes this a farce. You could turn up, walk one shuttle, fail and be put on remedial PT, don't attend and when your 3 month review comes about, you're on resettlement then terminal leave etc. Utter folly and a waste of everyone's time IMO.
Agreed; but, the OP asked if there was an exemption for this individual not wether we thought that the individual should be doing it.
To be deliberatly provocative (because I'm in that type of mood at the moment), the Service ascertains that the RAFFT is a measure of an individual's personal qualities in that it - claims - to ascertain wether an individual is leading a healthy lifestyle by committing regular exercise. So, if the chap (or chapess) just couldn't be asked in the last 6 months this could reflect on that individual's PQs which, in turn, could then be reflected in any discharge write up or employment reference.
AFAIK you cant write anything negative in an individuals discharge write-up

Yes you can - 'Failed to meet the requirments of the Service' being common for an individual discharged with a record significantly below the norm.
An individual who simply couldn't be @rsed for his last 6 months would hardly have a record significantly below the norm.
RAF Bird
Have a look at the first line of the second para at post #7.
You have to excuse a chap for having a game of fishing every now and then.
That's a pretty nice big thank you isn't it. Thanks for all out hard work over the last 22 years, blah blah blah blah blah.... but what'll now do is fook you over by writing a derogative remark in their discharge write up. Normally Climebear your spot on with everything you type but I think that's (no matter how your feeling) a pretty harsh way to look at it.
WTF do a civvy company care about a discharge write up.
Been out 2+ years now, did not do my Fitness Test or CCS in the last 6 months before I left. Got a crracking write up and a cracking Valedictory Certificate from an AFM, then again I did do 28 years loyal Service...
