sorry to butt in here chaps, but it should be noted that the Canberra's last job was to monitor drugs running and before that, it was providing reconnaisance for humanitarian purposes.

all i'm saying is that the Royal Air Force doesn't just do jobs that involve killing people.

I agree trilogi, much in the same way that the Royal Navy and Army do things that don't involve killing people (Fresco, fishery protection etc)...however these are SECONDARY ROLES.

The primary aim of any armed force is, and always has been, the elimination of that particular nations enemies.

It seems that when needed we enlist the help of civilian Airlines and ships to get us to danger areas but we always need our own weapons when we get there.
