Glasgow Rangers Enter Administration

I thought the business previously known as Glasgow Rangers FC had gone to the wall, whoever did it.

Hence my earlier post it's a new company called something else so the Glasgow Rangers company of 1872 exist now in the record and history books. Didn't know about the £5.5m but wether the team will be called Sevco 5088 is I agree most unlikely but surely it can't be the same name as it was. Rangers maybe or Rangers FC, locally Telford United went bust/bankrupt then were bought by new chairman/owners but renamed as AFC Telford, there are other examples.

Actually, they have never operated under the name of "Glasgow Rangers" just as Celtic have never operated under the name of "Glasgow Celtic". The Glasgow bit was stuck on the front when they first competed in Europe so Johnny Foreigner knew who they were dealing with. They are just Rangers or Celtic, so they could come back as "Glasgow Rangers ", although strictly speaking Govan didn't become part of Glasgow until 40 or so years after Rangers were formed so they would be betraying their roots.

The club was formed in Glasgow though. It played first at Flesher's Haugh (now part of Glasgow Green) then Partick before moving to Kinning Park and finally Govan.

As were most of the Glasgow teams. I am very familiar with Flesher's Haugh as that is where I played for my school team and the team I support (the only true Bridgeton team) was also formed.

The saga drags on..... Now I am not a Rangers fan, if anything I'm a Caley Thistle follower, due to Inverness been my birthplace. But surely enough is enough? They are starting in the basement, they have lost their first team in its entirety more or less.

Stop kicking them, let them regroup and do what they have to do. I agree fully with the decision of the SPL teams to refuse them admission. I agree with the stance taken by the SFL clubs to refuse admission to Division 1. I think the powers that be have to see some sense now, and drop this embargo idea. Let the 100k fine stand, and be done with it.

Short of a few bigots, I'm sure all Scottish football feel that justice has been served.

It is stupididty to enforce an embargo on a club who have essentially lost its entire first team squad, apart from anything else we need to downsize as we simply cannot afford to pay SPL wages on SFL income, if we cannot register new players how is this possible?

Finally, what is the punishment for? The previous regime had ran the club terribly and increased the debt of circa 17m to around 55m in one year! This resulted in Administration and the ulimate liquidation of Rangers FC PLC, with the end result of Rangers FC having to start at the bottom of the SFL.

We have been punished already for the Administration and Liquidation, and been fined £100,000. Surely it is time to draw a line under it and allow us the chance to rebuild the club and its tattered reputation?

I agree, the punishment has been made, enough is enough, why continue to punish a club that has few players? How is that 'justice'? Scottish football has officially lost the plot.

Talk about putting the boot in! As a Leeds fan we've had our fair share of harshness in the past but this is fecking brutal...

Will they get to play in Ibrox or will that go in the liquidation?

Ibrox and the training ground (I refuse to call it Murray Park!) were both sold to Charles Green's consortium. Assuming we are given an SFA Licence then we will play our matches at Ibrox.

As an aside, SFL 3 must be the only basement league in Europe that has 2 UEFA 5 Star Stadia in it (Hampden & Ibrox) - coincidentally the only two in Scotland!

Well those titles will forever be tarnished now anyway, fairly or not. For what it's worth the only people I feel sorry for are the Rangers fans, they're the ones left to pick up the pieces of this whole shambles. Lots of things done in the name of the club without their knowledge.

Is there a musical on the way ??
