You lifted one tinpot trophy in your whole time as a club. Is that anything to be proud of? We still haven't heard the bloody end of it. What about time in Europe? You got there purely on winning that one trophy, not by merit of league position. Tried playing in the Champions League yet? No? Thought not.

Until the fatster came in as chairman - and with the exception of Sir Bob as manager - we have finished consistently in the top third. This next season will be the first time for ages since we haven't been in Europe in any capacity. We've only played fewer games than Man U and Chelsea this season.

Now, you face the facts. You have about 5 good players. Schwarzer, Downing, Woody, Boateng (and he's getting on a bit), and Yakubu. Thats it. The fat Aussie only plays well when he feels like it (or when he's fit), and the others flatter to deceive. Now you look at our squad. You asked me to name the etc's in my list, so here we go. Given (probably the best keeper in the league after Cech), Solano, Parker, Emre, N'Zogbia, Dyer, Martins, Owen, Milner, Duff (still yet to perform 100% IMHO), Sibierski (my player of the season, what a f*cking bargain), Butt, Ramage, Taylor (probably one of the best young players in the country), Harper (another fine keeper, how he's stayed as 2nd fiddle to Given is beyond me).

I'm not looking at those players with black and white glasses on, any football fan will tell you they are top players. We will hopefully be unloading some of the others who just haven't made it - Bramble (so much promise, so little achieved), Luque (what is it with us and spaniards?), Carr (fat overrated sod), Moore (fine player, liable to injury), Babayaro (only plays when he feels like it), and probably Onyewu - only on loan but not comfortable with the premiership.

See the difference? A good manager and fewer injuries will make a squad like that great. And with less interference from the fat kn@cker.

When we got to the UEFA Cup Final LAST SEASON, we qualified for the competion based on our finishing position the previous season.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Barcodes qualify for the Inter Two Bob cup? THAT'S why you played loads of games. To compare yourselves with Man Utd & Chelsea is a display of arrogance.

Come on Tw@tt, if you're going to discredit my team do it fairly using FACTS not FICTION.

Your posts are becoming those of a desparate man. Just face it, Tw@tt you're just an ordinary team. Accept it. You are in denial at the moment.

ps What about Arca and Huth? And the production line of Academy players who are now first-team squad members?

By the "time of the Month" do you mean the time at the end of the season when they realise that they have won and achieved fcuk all - again!

Didn't they win this?

You bore me now. We have a wealth of history, honours and squad players that you'll never match. We're the bigger and better team in the north east so just get used to it. Huth? Thug defender reject from Chelski and as for Arca,... an ex-Mackem who flatters to deceive. And you call me a desperate man! :PDT_Xtremez_31: F*cking hell I'd rather watch Darlo or the Monkey Hangers than your bunch of passionless pricks.

The Intertoto Cup is there for those who could and wanted to enter for it. It might be a mockery to those who didn't qualify for it but it got us all the way to the UEFA quarterfinals.

You really are a w@nker of immense proportions to try and argue otherwise about the stats. Talk about being in denial. Like your team, you're a walking joke, man. Big ideas, f*ck all in reality. Bit like that plastic stadium...

Glenn Roeder would have been sacked regardless at the end of next season anyway. He was given a 2 year contract, but only because the GOD that is Alan Shearer said that he was only taking 2 years out. Coincidence...... I think not!!!!

I personnally think Big Sam would be a great manager. What he has done at Bolton on a very limited budget is nothing short of sensational. People have said that he has been lucky in his signings. I think he has been shrewd and managed to get a bunch of "mis-fits" working as a team. That is more than can be said for the Over paid, over valued prima donnas at St James.

Does anybody else think after the weekend that Big Sam taking over is a pre-meditated move and possibly why both managers have resigned in such a short space of time?

My dad's bigger than your dad ................. just listen to yourself.

Quarter-finals - all the way? I always thought 'all the way' meant to the end. Not falling woefully short. At least get to the FINAL before you start with all this bluster.

Is there anyone still alive who saw the Skunks win a cup?

By the way, there's no need for the name-calling. You're getting a bit TOO personal, Tw@tt.

Roeder wasn't given the transfer funds like Robson, Souness, Gullitt etc. It seemed as though all his eggs were in the Owen-Martins basket, and we all know what happened there. Lowest goals total scored at home for decades.

As a Boro fan, I find it quite comical that the 'Sleeping Giant', as the CarToon Army call themselves, and continually remind everyone, is suffering from Narcolepsy.

As a boro fan, my wife refuses to go to a game where she thinks they are going to get turned over at home, as opposed to Sunderland and Newcastle fans who will stick with the team through thick and thin.

From a managers point of view though, these fans will always demand more success. Remember Peter Reid's success at Sunderland before the fans decided they wern't happy with just being in the Premiership and demanded more success? Although he spent 22 million on players (a lot then) in 9 months, he still got them relegated

The trouble with the Boro is we can compete with the 'better' teams but are inconsistent with the rest. Once this is addressed then it must be seen as progress.

Agree with the Barcode scenario, but do the Mackems still give out 20,000 complementaries to inflate the gate?

I believe The Toon won a cup this season which is more than Boro have managed!!!!!!!!!!

I've never been given one and I go quite often with a mate from Seaham. I'm not a Mackem, I just go for the crack. I remember seeing a cup game against the monkey-hangers and the attendance was 43,000.

Cup?

You're not going to claim the Inter two bob?

What's that sound? Oh, it's the bottom of the barrel being scraped by the Barcodes.

Grips me that when we were in the Uefa Cup it was classed, by the Barcodes, as a Mickey Mouse Cup, now they have a wall plaque of the inter two bob suddenly theres is the World Cup. Another defeat on Saturday for the Jawdees and who will Sheep Herd look to for a one sider, Pearson watch yer back fella

IMHO a trophy is a trophy. any trophy won is good. it can help breed confidence and lead on to greater achievments.

Didn't the Toon also win the First division (now Championship) back in 94 was it. I see all the Mackam fans are bleatin thier gums about winning that this year so that must be worth something!

The Jawdees feel they have the bigest club in the North East, what they cannot understand is that the catchment area is massive and that a City that size normally has two Clubs, Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow etc. As a smoggie our town population is minute and catchment area is minimal but Jawdee baiting is a past time something we do rather well. Nice to see three Nort East teams in the premiership again......

You're persistent.

Do you understand how you "won" your "trophy"?

'For the first time since the 1960s, there is provision for an actual trophy — whichever sides go furthest in the UEFA Cup will each be awarded a trophy. The first winners were Newcastle United, who won the 2006 tournament outright by going further in the UEFA Cup than the other ten qualifiers'.

Not exactly something to brag about, is it? Or, if you are straw-clutching, then, as the Jawdee says, 'a trophy is a trophy. any trophy won is good'.

Does this win feature on any Jawdee 'Roll of Honour'? Didn't think so.

Pure comedy from the Skunks.

I can see what you're trying to say, however the populations are around:
Sunderland - 177,000 (283,000 including surrounding parishes), Newcastle - 189,863 (259,000) whilst admittedly Middlesbrough has a population of just 142,000. However in line with the bracketed figures for Newcastle and Sunderland, if you include Stockton (80,000) then Teeside has a comparable catchment area with the only other clubs in the area being Hartlepool and Darlington. The closest clubs south are then Scarborough, York and Harrogate!!

notice you didn't quote the rest of my post. you obviously agree with that one then

Here's you post. What is there to agree/disagree on?

If I don't quote/comment don't make the mistake of assuming that I 'obviously agree with that one then', because you'd be obviously wrong.
Sorry to disappoint, Jawdee.

As i said Albert, it is my OPINION that a trophy is a trophy. does it really matter who you have to play or how you win trophies as long as you win them!!!!!! Look at the top sides. Success breeds success!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're obviously intoxicated with your success.

It is FACT that you were presented with the Inter Two Bob because you were the last team of the qualifiers to be eliminated from the UEFA Cup. It wasn't WON in the traditional sense. THAT is not success - it is failure. It doesn't matter how you dress it up - it's 3rd rate. Admit it. How can you claim any prestige? Fuuckin' embarrassing.

If it was the UEFA Cup itself, that you won, then fair play.

Talking of Fair Play - would you add that to the Trophy count, if you won it?
