Good numbers (NSN) Book

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
Thinking about it I don't know how much use it would be these days, last one I saw the most modern jet listed was the Vulcan!

The 1086 was great, does anyone know if we have an alternative now, and if not why? There's nothing more frustrating than knowing something you need is available through supply but no-one knows the number so you can't get it.

All depends who you speak to, there are ways and means and most good Stackers will know how to get it.:PDT_Xtremez_14::PDT_Xtremez_14:

I think some suppliers are frightened of letting everyone have access to a list of all NSNs. I can understand why to some extent, because we are all likley to demand things, sometimes just to see if we'll get them. However I'm sure that we have all been in the position where we have a good service reason to demand things but because we don't have access to a big list we are forced to demand things that are available through service sources.

Ah, good old RAF inefficiency and lack of continuity, without it life would be so much easier, and what would be the point in that?

We're googling for NSNs now? Perhaps a dedicated site on the intranet may be a better way forward as nearly everyone can then have access to it, from SACs up?

There is also this - http://www.nmcrl.com/ some units will have a link to it via the station intranet homepage, if you don't ask why not. Also things like ISIS/HSIS available.

It's also amazing how many stackers are unaware of things like this!

Beer?

Beer?

Off Topic

In the late 80's at our top secret wasteland in the NW of England, we used to have the whole US Forces NSNs on CD - Haystack it was called. We tried to demand Qty 2 Budweiser... :PDT_Xtremez_19:

It went through... :PDT_Xtremez_42:

And came back quantity excessive... :PDT_Xtremez_35:

As we only had 4 Americans on camp they weren't allowed 2 palettes of beer... :raf:

Im currently sandy side and I'm struggling to find an NSN for Milton sodium hypochlorite solution (5 Litres). If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.

Cheers in advance.

Is that the stuff with the short shelf life and is usually out of date by the time it gets to theatre plus it's always been a pain to get hold of!

NMRCL.com requires subscription from what I can see. Your local SCAF should have a CD-ROM.

HSIS is for safety data sheets and is on the Defence Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Stores Group site on intranet.

Haven't seen ISIS since 2007. Also my favourite, the Micromated Master Parts Index (MMPI), disk was a god send but haven't seen one of them since 2006 and the online version is not user friendly.

Ferret / PEST used to be my bible (until they removed it for SCM use only :PDT_Xtremez_25:

The amount of states I used to bat back to the techies with alt's was unreal. It was/is the ultimate tool if you know how to use it right. But unbelievably they removed it from the intranet????
