Higher Pay Band?

Status
Not open for further replies.
Finally going to throw my spanner in, for what reasons do pers admin, cooks and stackers need the higher pay band?
Isn't it for the skilled techie trades who do a little more than shuffle paper, spoil food and move boxes.
Any answers please......................

You forgot: Police, RAF Regt, TCO etc etc.

Its about recognising what different TG's are experiencing in the modern Armed Forces.

Perhaps if you could pull yourself away North America Dets to truly understand that TG's outside of the 'Technical' aspect of the RAF are experiencing a shift in employment diversity from UK exrecises or Op deployment then maybe you would be open to a more balanced discussion. (Op deployment = Iraq/Afghanistan)

As for skilled technical trade. Your taught from a book, you rectify from a book. One black box for another....can't be that hard can it??

Am I fishing or am I for real!!??

As a Supplier working in a joint service environment, my counterparts in the RN and Army have been on the higher pay band for some years now, whilst we do the same job for less pay. They find it incredible that we refer to the higher pay band as “Techie Pay” and cannot understand why in the modern military their Air Force colleagues (who rank for rank are more experienced) receive less pay. My point is, there is no such thing as “Techie Pay” anymore, just a realisation that if you want Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen (regardless of trade) to stay in the Military then they must receive a decent wage.

Sundance - Why not drop the CAS an e-mail. See if he gives a hoot about what we earn! Response negative one expects.

Wilberforce, your missing the point, “Techie Pay” is a thing of the past, I am not saying that we deserve a jump to the higher pay scale, but each trade and rank is assessed by the JSET and graded by merit. If that means I am happen to be on the same take home pay as a Rigger, Sooty, Fairy or even a humble Admin Clerk, so be it. Since Pay 2000 was introduced, right or wrongly, the higher pay band is no longer the sole domain of the Technical Trades.

Yep. Missed the pont completely. However I hole heartedly agree with you. it stinks.. Still think you should drop ya man aline. Try the new CAS. He might be more approachable - you never know. It's about time they addressed the balance here though.

Apologies for those that read the previous thread. Having a few IT/Keyboard issues. Keyboard not doing what I tell it. Bit like the the wife.........put the chuffing kettle on!!

Not in my trade mate, yes granted we use books, but only to aid in fault finding seeing which system feeds in to the next and how things work together.

Box off shelf, into van drive to hangar and deliver box, not hard?

I humbly accept defeat because you got me there alright. That is all we do in the Supply trade.

Back on topic. There has always been disparity between the Joint Forces pay scale. Naval Admin have been on the high pay band for several years but fail to acknowledge the RAF Admin trade (al least until now).

I guess the same could be said for the LSAP.

Just a quick Question when all services are using one IT system will we be on the same Pay band

The system of course is MJDI (no its not USAS 4) saying that upsets the other services.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't MJDI the equivalent of USAS 3.

But its a good point all the same.

This thread has gone a little quiet after the initial onslaught of replies. I have heard that the release date is the 26th Nov, anyone heard other dates, snippets…anything really?

Just trying to round all these chickens up to count them, before someone here in the office spends it (and Mrs BS)!

Anyway, just a thought…

Just found out, its next Thursday. News will hit the street shortly after that!

Ah, it might hit the streets next week, but, and what a but, if we do get upbanded it will not take effect until 2010::/:

But of course the clerks have got theirs from the 1 Apr 2009.******

Lights blue touch paper and retires a safe distance.

The Clerks have recieved the High Pay Band from Apr 09 as the decision to upgrade thier Trade was made before Oct 08; this is the period where they seal off the financial position for the next Financial Year so I've been told.

Therefor we will, if fortunate, be following on in Apr 2010; this can of course be challenged.

There are a lot of rumours out there but I have been ignoring them all.

We'll know soon enough.

Stackers,

Come on guys, give your Trade Sponser a swift kick up the 'arris.

If the Admin Clerks/Secretaries/Cashiers Assistants/JPA Jobbies can get a move to the Higher Pay Band, then it should be a doddle for you guys!

Fingers crossed for yer.

With you 100% mate. I think the time has arrived when we should all be paid the same!

The possibility of somebody having their feeling hurt by receiving a lesser pay than somebody else in this day and age is.........well simply abhorrent!!

In the past I maybe didn’t quite appreciate the level of responsibility placed upon all members of the RAF at all trades and ranks. Who is to say a Cpl Policeperson or stacker is any less deserving of the higher pay band than adminers, techies or gunners. NOT I! So come on trade sponsors earn a bit of your money and make us all equal.

Change is coming so let’s embrace it. I would like to know though which way we are officially going either……..

a) It is accepted that the levels of responsibility are equal for each rank regardless of trade or

b) Regardless of the level of responsibility all equal ranks will be paid the same because it is considered that hard work should be rewarded as much financially as the acceptance of responsibility should.

Personally I’m for equal pay across the board regardless of trade or rank! What is the saying – If you can’t beat em, join em!!

'I think the time has arrived when we should all be paid the same!'

'Personally I’m for equal pay across the board regardless of trade or rank!'

...isn't that Communism?

I think the time has arrived when we will all be paid the same...but whether I agree or not is a different matter and not for this thread.

However, if the stackers do get it, then our loggie has said he'll get the cakes in on Friday so come-on, give it to 'em!!:PDT_Xtremez_30:

As a clerk, I was gobsmacked that we got it. But it was all those little extras that got us the money AFAIK. Undermanned, over-worked, detachments a go-go and so on. I believe that is the case for much of the rest of the RAF. So you guys in TG18 should be lucky as well. (Touch wood)

Off Topic So far Off Topic it's silly, my bugbear with the system is with Cpls that are taking home more money than Sgts and so on. You work hard to get promoted and I think that the promotion is devalued if you get your first pay packet as a newly minted Cpl after X years and some little scrote who has maybe done half the time is still taking home more than you. I'll get off me soapbox now!

I'm guessing TG6 will have their own problems to deal with down the years.

As far as I'm aware TG6 are not a pinch trade and the fact that TG18 is may enable us to receive the HPB over several ranks.

Its hard enough to retain SNCOs in TG18 without adding the insult of your JNCOs earning more than you.

We will all know soon enough I'm sure.
