How Long Can the Nation Tolerate This?

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
I see that Jaguar Landrover, Taylor-Wimpey and Aston Martin are planning on re-opening their doors for workers either next week or the week after...Also B&Q in intially 61 stores.

If the plan is just to keep a manageable amount of sick in the hospitals then it should be lifted soon, I’m just getting very very Board and daren’t turn on the news as it’s a stress multiplier.

I find the news very pointless, and the "daily briefing" even more so.

Ive enjoyed the time off, but its time to get back into a "work-life-sport" routine. My waistline has taken a beating, and i have the RAFFT in October..

Last weeks "joy" was to see the local chinese re-open..

This week its B&Q..... dead plants = cheap compost ;)

I think its government controller....

KFC, Burger King and McDonalds in certain places. I see that some "Premier Inn" hotels are open for bookings. I suspect as the weeks go on, day-by-day things will start to come back online to keep the public entertained.

For me, i am happy with returning to work...even just sitting at my desk talking the usual crap with the team...

A lot of places battened down the hatches or responded to bad press, I think the mood is reflecting the fact the country can cope with the health demands of the sick.

Tentative steps now being taken, but it won’t be the same as normal, some people will get
upity about it, I’m giving B&Q a miss until Monday then I’m off for a resupply run.

most annoying thing so far for me is if you start a job and find you need to get something unusual would normally pop out for, now it’s a weeks wait at least for it to be delivered.

Technically, only in Wales does the law say only once per day. English law doesn't specify. The question is it reasonable to leave the house more than once per day to exercise....

Not really, and definitely not if you are, like it or not, in an age bracket where you are more likely to die from Covid-19.

I don't see an * next to "Stay Home" where *= 75yr olds in Cheltenham who think they are immune from Covid-19.

where I work it's been mega busy. Keep getting bombarded with texts for work. Got shifts for next week in the royal mail, whereas before you waited for texts on the day.

Actually the age thing is a myth. According to the NSA all ages are as susceptible as normal percentages - it just happens that older people die just as they do without Covid. There is also an indication that BAME people are more susceptible than Caucasians - again as they are about 20% more liable to suffer from diabetes and high blood pressure.
Our release from Lockdown will be to restart the economy and businesses first - no social areas will open. Businesses will be told to practice distancing as much as possible in the hope that that will be enough to hold the infection rate down. Age won’t matter, but it would be sensible to keep retired people at home, out of harms way as such.
In my opinion, flying will be severely hit by ‘sanitisation’ enforcement - especially international /cross channel flights. Health Certificates, Baggage sanitisation, Airport equipment cleaning of Scanner trays, etc...Card payments only, distancing in seating and shops - no restaurants - and so on.....
