Having worked with painters of B737 to B747 for a few years - the grills in those shops are hardly made of bodge tape and tinsel.

But they have seen the need to put a load spreading plate under the nose tyres.

Could it be more to do with tyre wear whilst parked than load capacity of the grill?

Why did it have OI written on it? Is it a shout-out thing, or what?
